I like it but do you feel yu need/want more of the floor covered. Either for protection, color or sound?

What is your weather year round? Do you want a larger kanding space for people coming in the front door?

A larger would be better but nothing larger makes sense. Really don't need more covered. This floor is LVP.

It is more for aesthetics. It is such a large foyer.

More context. When first built, this house had columns on either side that defined the entry.

PO renovated and removed them.

I think that's too small and too similar to the floor color. What if you try an oval or a round one? It will add a nice contrast to all the angles and straight lines in the space.

Where would a round one be placed? And I have a round mirror.

I did a quick mockup on rugs direct. The color is not right but it gives you an idea of how a different shape would look.

Hoow about a 6 x 6 sq one? Comes out to side door, fills up a little more space.

I can see you want a rug all along the bottom of the doors, to keep stuff from falling onto the floor. So a rectangle works best functionally. And, you are going for a serene look, so the soft color works. Perhaps there is a larger-scale soft tone-on-tone pattern?

Well.. DH just nixed the the rug. He didn't like the uneven birder.

I can see your challenge here eld. I wonder if you even need a rug in the foyer? I mean, if you have a substantial outdoor entry rug, is this necessary? The right size seems a tad too small and bigger creates other problems. Will be interested in where you end up on this.

Ruby, very true. We also sometimes use the door from the garage, do I think it was just aesthetics for me.

Did he nix all rugs or just that one? Your door is a bit of a grand entrance and I think a rug should be larger to usher people into the room. I think one so small would be awkward for more than one guest coming through the door. Online choices with visualizers are pretty crummy, so I just picked a few that look like they coordinate with your other rug. Sizes are weird, too. Some I had to choose 8 x 10 to get them to fill the space because the smaller ones just disappeared because of the distance from the camera, I guess. That's why some of these go under the baseboards, lol.

I love your entrance, and you know I have always loved your floors. 😄 (I should have chosen that color too. Sigh....)

If you are going to have a rug, I would do what Oly just mocked up. The tiny rug looks too tiny in that grand space. It doesn't bother me to have the rug overlap the entrance to the other room. If I wouldn't allow a similar overlap my foyer rug would have to be about a foot wide though, so I honestly had no choice.

Ally thank you. This is a different home and a different floor! We moved here in January. This one is we did Coretec Calypso. Last house was Hayes Oak.

My DH is pushing for a rug, but honestly I don't think it will happen.

He also wants one for under the lanai . More on that at a different time.

And, speaking about rugs, I wound up with this one for outside. Another dilemma because of the width of the double doors no side lights.

Also, there is a nice over hang that keeps this pace dry.

I’m late to this party and love the floors, Eld! But I see the problem arising from the rug being too small and sitting right at the threshold, which makes it look like a floor mat for wiping your feet. If you want a rug— and I think one would be lovely— pull it out several feet away from the doors and let it be a standalone feature. The color is nice and doesn’t argue with the rug in the adjacent room but I would try to find one with a two inch border all the way around that coordinates with the dining room rug.

I agree the doormat looks too skimpy all by itself like that - and I realize it's a moot point now.

I can envision a longer runner centered in the space - but it needs to be wider than the typical ones for hallways.
