Decorative Shades... lighting, not windows

last month

Discovered THIS Etsy seller on IG. So many amazing shades. While I do not have a place for one, I thought several of you would enjoy seeing.

So why would I want a pretty design on my shades at night but not during the day? I almost think I would want it the other way around....

Allison, thanks for sharing this unique shade!

I just visited the site and she has many options of these and also colorful shades. Fun to peruse.

That is really lovely and her kimonos are as well. Of course now I'm wondering if I can line a small plain shade for the same effect because of course I'll think about it forever and never attempt it ;-)

    How pretty!

Thank you for sharing, I’m bookmarking the Etsy page. Lovely items and her prices are very reasonable.

DLM, I like her kimonos, too. I have several I wear in the summer. Mine are all colorful, so I’m considering ordering this one for something different:

Thank you again for sharing, Allison! And for the IG page, too, what a beautiful home. Looking forward to exploring it more. :)

Eta: Oops, just saw the one above is sold out in my size. I hope she gets more in.

    So pretty.

    Oof, shipping is $50.

Happy to hear the majority of you liked her things. I went to see the rest of her shop after I started the thread.

@Sueb20 The lighter a large box is, the more it costs to ship. I ordered two custom shades from Jack of All Shades and shipping in 2021 was $31.78. I don't recall they were double boxed, but that would be a good idea.

I have never wanted a patterned shade, but would do this in the right room.

    @mtnrdredux_gw Yes, a nice surprise!

Allison, I’ve never thought of patterned shades until recently. Ive seen so many pretty ones! i have a lamp and a pair of sconces I’d like to try them on. (Different rooms, different fabrics) I’m looking for small prints, maybe a small block print. Thanks for sharing!

Jilly, i like (and wear) kimonos too and have been in the mood for a new one. 😊

I had owned this lamp and didn’t care for the shade. I considered buying a new shade, but couldn’t find the same size. After consulting Mr Google, I slipcovered the old shade with some fabric in my stash.

    That looks fabulous ratherbesewing!

@ratherbesewing would you care to show how you did inside of shade? did you use spray adhesive to cover shade? i might like to try this for my one shade. i have some fabric samples coming for the sconce shades.

Here is the video I followed. No glue —it’s a fitted cover. Obviously, I did not use the tape at the top and bottom. It was simply and experiment for me. The original burlap shade was depressing me!
