Photos Before Sunday's Rain

We're getting a bit more rain today, so I photographed a fraction of my openers before I went to church. So many are opening at once now that I can't keep up with pictures.

Cherry Pie a la Mode ffo - This one of Nancy's intros, and I love it!

Such a Blaze ffo - This one is increasing well here and is slightly taller than in Nashville. It was never the registered height in either location.

Clump #2 of Bubblegum Queen opened with a trio this morning. This clump has tall scapes and is much better budded than the clump next to the house that had an ffo about a week ago.

Closeup of the one of 8-inch Bubblegum Queen flowers.

Sultry Girls ffo - This was newly planted last fall.

For Ever and For Always was newly planted last fall. (Sorry about the weeds - Creeping Charlie kept creeping faster than I could weed that area.)

Buddy's Victoria Jade X Skin of my Teeth

Steven Scott Derrow ffo

Diver Down - Better flat opening today.

Dancing Flamingo

Destined to See X Green Mystique ffo from yesterday

Another bright red with Such A Blaze. I like the Destined to See seedling. I can see Green Mystique in it. Do you still grow Green Mystique itself?...............Maryl

How tall is Such a Blaze? A Pierce, I see. Good to see that Bubblegum is doing well (in one clump at least).

Maryl - I wanted to bring Green Mystique, but I ran out of time and space for it.

Mantis - Such a Blaze was 23-24 inches tall in Nashville. Right now in Indy scapes are 25-26 inches. It's registered at being 30 inches tall.

Lovely post, Debra. Bubblrgum Queen looks great today, and I really like Green Mystique. Such a Blaze is a pretty red and Dancing Flamingo always is a pretty one.

Kay - Thanks for your comments! The recent rains have scapes getting taller and weeds going crazy.

Dancing Flamingo continues to catch my eye. I like the Buddy’s Victoria Jade seedling. Bubblegum Queen is looking good.

While many people like creeping charlie as a ground cover, I fight it in a small bed and as you know, it is often a losing battle.

We got our rain around 11. It rained hard for just a few minutes. We were at church so by the time we got home many of the flowers were ruined.

Thanks for posting the lovely photo of Cherry Pie a la Mode. I am glad it is looking good for you.

Bubblegum Queen is such a pretty pink and your white seedlings is lovely too. Such a Blaze and Diver Down are my other two favorites.

Another nice grouping Debra. I love that seedling pic Destined to See X Green Mystique. I didn't know you grow Green Mystique. How does it do for you in your new garden?

Julia - Green Mystique did not make the move to Indy. I'm glad you like the seedling. I have it planted in two places. The one that gets more sun is very well-budded and branched this time, while this clump - surrounded by other daylilies on all sides - only has top branching and modest buds.

Kate - Thanks for mentioning the Buddy's Victoria Jade seedling. It holds its own here, despite being an evergreen. One of the scapes has more buds (18) than it ever got in Nashville, which was 16 . It multiplies a bit here.

Nan - So far, I'm really happy with Cherry Pie. I love the colors and gentle ruffling of the edge.
