Taking care of your beds is a full time job. I put down cardboard and then mulch on top of it and it is a huge help, but there are always many areas to weed and the cardboard/mulch is a yearly thing.I have backed out of one small bed, and I am reducing some of the larer less loved plants also; but not enough to make huge differences. I have clump shots from ye4sterday and will post again later today.

Gee there used to be perennials, garden, hostas, etc. topics on Houzz. I looked at all those yesterday, and there is no recent activities. (2024) What's up with that?

I'm not sure what you are seeing but the Perennials and Hosta forums are still very active. New posts everyday and many with photos. Rouge is extremely proactive in that regard. I don't follow Hostas as much but I see lots of activity with cross posting from there to other fora.

Your daylilies are lovely! There's much less use on all the garden forums over the past three years. Many people were unable to post when Houzz made changes in software.

For some unknown reason, this year so far has been fabulous for my gardens. Discovered several Dutch iris I had no recollection of planting and they were lovely! Still have a new rose bush to get into the ground, and a new azalea also -- perhaps today...

The mountain laurels (of which we have a plethora everywhere) are at peak right now, and are stunning. As have my peonies been. And many things seem to be a couple of weeks ahead of their usual bloom time -- daylilies with scapes & buds already and some hosta flowers as well.

My new meadow (front lawn) is pleasing me greatly -- forget-me-nots have gone by and are setting seed for the future, common daisies swaying in the breeze, a large patch of lavender fleabane self sown, some hawkweed here and there, and a stray balloon flower showed up right in the middle of the "lawn" , which is a delight as I planted one of these over 20 years ago and it died. How/where did that come from??? =)

@ladypat1, you’re talking my language. Some of my favorite daylilies. And a few other things blooming. I try to have something in bloom somewhere all summer.

Gorgeous, gorgeous flowers, everyone. I'm not home right now, so I can't post a photo. I'll try to remember to do it tomorrow.

If someone should post a thread about flowers from our past, I'd have a lot to contribute. But my gardening has been severely curtailed in recent years. I do have a few things to share this year though: Comfrey flowers (comfrey is so amazingly resiliant!), a spider visiting a peony given to me by a gardening neighbor who has since passed on, petunias started from seed by my son early this year (I have 8 pots with many colors, all blooming like crazy now), Iris Queen Dorothy (my mom's name was Dorothy), and an antique rose that reproduces by runners. An old woman dug some up to give to me when we moved here 50 years ago.

Your flowers are all lovely! I've never grown day lilies, but I'm an admirer.

My lacecap hydrangea is blooming. This was an impulse purchase from Home Depot, and I love it.

I had some leftover impatiens so I stuck them in this pot and they seem happy.

This mini french hydrangea is picky about blooming but is having a good year.

I spieda pot of angel wing begonia thatI couldnt resist. Not sure how it didnt get snapped up for Mothers Day.

The blooming is just getting started here. We hired gardeners to clean our beds this spring, they were out of control. expensive, yes, but we arent ready to let it go.
