I hope you are all safe after last night's storms, especially Nancy since there were multiple tornado warnings throughout the night for Terre Haute. Tornados went south of Indianapolis, so we only had severe thunderstorms.

I so appreciate all of you who've sent me replacement plants and plants that I wanted. Many of them are blooming now.

The Blessing of Freedom is one Nancy sent me after I admired it in her garden. This is the second flower open.

Kentucky Lucky with its second flower open - thanks Mantis! I always loved this polychrome and am so happy to have it back in my garden again. The picture doesn't do it justice. It has a lot more pink highlights in real life.

Sugar Magnolia was overwintered in a pot in the garage over the winter. It's doing well and will go in the new bed I'm digging. Thank you, Brad!

Mike Derrow sent me free replacements for Empire of Dawn and Dusk and these two with my order last Spring.

Betwixt and Between ffo

Lunar Empire ffo - Scapes are short, but even so it still has 17 buds on each stalk.

Here are some other replacements I purchased last year:

Stenciled Infusion - Not many buds this time

Blue Over You has lateral branching this year, which I never saw in Nashville.

Divine Ballerina - New last year, but not a replacement.

Forty Days and Forty Nights is tall and well-budded this year despite being covered up by a space hog on the left. All these blooms are on one scape that has great lateral branching.

Lonesome Jaguar had its ffo yesterday. The foliage is taller than usual and several of the scapes have nice lateral branching.

Michael Davisson - I'm so thrilled with the tall scapes this season.

Heavenly Snow White also has taller scapes than in many years. To the right is Absolute Ripper, and in back is Perseus' Sandals X Jumping Jack Flash.

Pink Aloha X Bubblegum Queen is fairly short, but taller than previous years and better budded.

Of course I like the Pink Aloha seedling. When you say short, how short is short to you? In my pot system, someone else's short may be just fine for me........I love The Blessing Of Freedom and can see why it caught your eye. It's an evergreen, so how did it do over your winter or is this it's first year? I always liked Sugar Magnolia. I remember it and Selby in your garden from awile back.............So nice to have daylily friends that will help you out in a pinch........Maryl

White Tooth X SSkater and the beautiful Pink Aloha seedling are the winners for me. Lots of pretty ones, Debra, but those are outstanding.

What great color on The Blessing of Freedom! I like Divine Ballerina (yellow, you know!). The White Tooth seedling clump is fabulous!

Maryl - The Pink Aloha seedling is an evergreen, so probably not for your pot system. Scapes this year are 23-24 inches tall. In the past it was 20-21 inches. The Blessing of Freedom, like most everything else I planted last fall, is much shorter than registered. I do have it planted in a sheltered area next to my deck, so we'll see how it fares after settling in a bit.

The White Tooth/Skater made quite a display. Lonesome Jaguar has been small here this season. I seldom see Michael D offered anymore. It must not multiply that fast. The Pink Aloha seedling is lovely.

Mantis - Michael Davisson is a slow multiplier compared with many of Judy's other UFs. I got mine as three fans, and it went to four after the first year. Then it stayed at four fans for two years without increasing. In my Indy garden, it's added two more fans. The White Tooth seedling, on the other hand, more than doubles each year. The photo is just a section of the clump. I think it had 14 blooms on it that day, but several of the flowers were facing other directions.

The Blessing of Freedom is looking good in your garden. I also like the White Tooth X Skater seedling. It is making quite a clump. Are you going to register it?

Nancy - I haven't decided yet on registering the White Tooth seedling. It certainly multiplies well enough to register. This is the first season it has ever gotten more than 14 buds. I think I need to see more than one time of getting 17-18 buds.
