Pairings-also known as how can I make this header long enough

Being able to shift pots around, although labor intensive, can lead to unexpected pairings of complimentary colors. Here's a few I tried this year:

*Note: We had the house painted this spring and replaced the lattice work. Time will mellow the color of it to a more neutral gray.

Funny Valentine and Kiss You In The Morning. Although heights were like Mutt and Jeff, I liked the combination of pattern and colors:

No Way Jose and Avon Sunrise:

Ageratum and Little Dream Caster:

This is a combination I've used for years now. They flower together with similar height and bloom size. The muted "rouge" red color is a more suitable match with the halo on Orange Smoothie then any other red I've tried:

Orange Smoothie and Mexican Maiden:

I liked the Green of the bloom matching the green of the center of Royal Decorum.

Green Icon and Royal Decorum:

Bloomed together this year and I liked the combo:

Lisa Apps Sybrandt and Better Than Ice Cream:

Drawing near to the end of bloom season. Each day sees another last bloom come and go. However there will be some I never get to take a proper picture of in their last days...... This is the combo that greeted me this morning from yesterday's and this mornings downpours. More rain in the forecast.

Beautiful combos! My top favorite is Lisa A. S. and Better Than Ice Cream. Those two surrounded by all the companion plants are just dynamite! No Way Jose and Avon Sunrise make a lovely pairing. I especially like that edge on Avon Sunrise. Little Dream Caster and the Ageratum look sweet together.

That wheel barrow picture shows how much rain you've gotten recently. It's raining here now, and we will be getting a lot more tonight and tomorrow.

I love all these pairings! Your agetatum looks so much taller than mine. I very much like the Lisa and Better Than Ice Cream. So much color. Your Better Than Ice Cream has more ruffles than mine. Green Icon and Royal Decorum is lovely-love the color on RD. I cannot imagine having a pot colony of daylilies-you work for your lovelies, don’t you?!!

Thanks everybody for the nice words. Just after I typed this another downpour came and the Wheelbarrow, which had been emptied, was half full again. I don't know how in ground plants will fare with all this rain, but one of the benefits of pots is that they have holes in the bottom and will drain.............Maryl

Maryl. I always so enjoy youir pairings and the companions to makwe such lovely photos. I know I'm showing my color preferences, but No Way Jose and Avon Sunrise. Orange Smoothie and Mexican Maiden: and Lisa Apps Sybrandt and Better Than Ice Cream: are my favorites, I can't seem to choose just one. Every other photo is lovely too, especially the Ageratum and Little Dream Caster: since they are such pretty colors together.

These are quite lovely and nice placements with other flowers. A good amount of rain in the wheelbarrow.

I see that Royal Decorum is registered at 6.5 inches. Is it a good bloomer for you? (I am sure it must be fairly sunfast.) Kiss You in the Morning has a vivid bloom here, but the plant has been puny.

Julia: We had half a wheelbarrow more to add to that as it kept raining. Over 10 inches. Brad's picture of his storm though made my rainfall look like a puddle.....Sherry: I like a few doubles in my collection too. Glad you are on board.......Mantis: Royal Decorum was sent as a small seedling last year and even though it bloomed, this is its first year gaining size. The blooms are indeed large. It bloomed during the mid to upper 80's temperatures, so yes, it was colorfast then but I don't know how it will react to our normal 90 plus temperatures. It's an Apps daylily, so the bones should be good as it gains more size. Kiss You In The Morning is a shorter daylily that can have a wonky growth pattern; some times vigorous, some times not as much. But it always has nice blooms with a true pink base, and overwinters outdoors here every year. I'm up to 4 pots of it now.........Nan: I know you like the miniatures in your garden too.
