We have lots of drawers in our kitchen, so I hate to admit I have a 23" wide 3-drawer stack with "junk" in all 3 drawers!

Dying laughing! I have 90 % of the stuff she mentioned. I just did a mental inventory of my kitchen and realize I have two junk drawers, two junk shelves ( one has a phone book Im saving for nostalgia). I also have a saran wrap, aluminum foil, baggie drawer.

At least I know Im not alone!

This is hilarious! I’ve played it twice and keep reading some of the comments. I have or once had almost everything mentioned. I clean it out and try to keep it organized and DH sees ’more room for stuff I might need’. One in the utility room and one in the kitchen (well 2 if you count the small drawer where i keep tape, paper clips, binder clips, super glue, extra reading glasses, etc..i dunno).

Coming back to say the pennies in honey comment keeps cracking me up. :D

One of my projects this summer is to organize drawers. I just finished in my bathroom — acrylic organizer trays for makeup, serum bottles, hair stuff, etc. For my kitchen, I got bamboo organizers for tea bags and similar items.

This thread has inspired me to organize our utility room junk drawer next. I think we have every single thing mentioned from the IG post in that drawer…. including things that make it hard to open! Reminds me of this meme:

I guess the nice thing about our kitchen with small drawers is, we have more than one junk drawer! But, they all hold different kinds of junk. Can you categorize junk? Yes you can! (and btw, we have a bread basket on a bread-slicing board on the counter, and the twist ties go in the basket, under the bread. Since nearly all the twist ties come from the bread bags. When I can’t see the bottom of the basket, I throw them all away. Except, you know, like the really nice ones, or the gold-covered ones.

I am a Virgo so I organize our drawers pretty regularly. I actually did a Pen Purge recently. You need scrap paper and allll the pens. It’s kinda therapeutic.

@Sueb20, DH did this yesterday. And where were all those pens? In his bathroom cabinet drawer. I do it fairly regularly when i clean out my desk drawer

I bought an organizer for my junk drawer as a Covid project. It's still junk, but it is COMPARTMENTALIZED. All the dregs of different glues and adhesives are in one bin. I gotta say I'm pretty pleased with myself.

We don’t have a junk drawer. I have four drawers side by side that contain from left:

1. scissors/sharpies/extra dry erase board markers/ cloth bands for tying rolled up beach towels and sofa protectors (grandkids’ visits), scotch tape

2. Quick fix drawer: small tools and hammer (ncluding allen wrenches), measuring tapes of varying sizes, small bag of picture hanging hardware, string and twine

3. Electronics / gadget drawer: cords of all kinds, used and u used, known and unknown, plug extenders, chargers, battery packs and unused thumb drives

4. Fastener drawer: clear, strapping and brown paper shipping tapes, rubber bands, coated wire ties, glues (wood, epoxy, gorilla, super, Elmers, etc), cable ties and turtles

I know what in them because I have to sort thru and restore the contents of each to the correct drawer about every six months.

We have a large kitchen drawer that is the "junk drawer." I got so fed up that I pulled everything, sorted according to type of stuff, and ziplock bagged it. It looked beautiful for a day or two? I reorganize the mess about every six months. There are no kitchen tools in this drawer. When we remodeled about 15 years ago, the first design was six small drawers that spanned six large drawers. I nixed it; I said they will become six junk drawers! Make six very large drawers; they did and each can hold 45-60 pounds. Thank heavens there is only ONE junk drawer!

I have a nice organized drawer with bins that corral most junk drawer items. Then I have the other drawer… the one that doesn’t have organizers. That’s the one I get angry at. Ha It’s on my extended to do list.
