you are pretty limited if you can't move much.

Yes eliminate the pantry and move the refrigerator down to the end will make the room feel more open. No to the separate wall oven, for the little one is used now, keep it part of the cooktop. Place the microwave where it is convenient to you. same with toaster oven.

I'd move the W/D to the vent end. You don't want a stove right next to the refrigerator, need a space between (heat factor)

Do you have room to move the washer/dryer to the lower end of the sink? If so, I would do that and move the dishwasher down as planned. I don't think you can afford the counter space for a cooktop and wall oven. Make the pantry into a 9" pullout pantry and move the fridge down to give you more counter space around the stove. Using as many drawers as possible will greatly increase your storage. Are you planning any upper cabinets?

@Lyn Nielson Thanks. The vent end is at the dining alcove. We plan to move the W/D to the opposite end (the right of the sink) which is near the secondary enterance and back of the kitchen. In the option where we keep the stove on the fridge side, there would be at least a 27" counter between the fridge and the range.

@katinparadise Thanks. Yes, we will move the W/D to th right of the sink and swap with the dishwasher which will be to the left of the sink. (when facing the sink). We will have upper cabinets on both sides. Note sure about the 9" pantry, but thank you for your suggestion. If you have a preferred option of the three mentioned above, please let me know.

how wide are the 2 aisles [kitchen and hallway aisle] ?? . kitchen is too small to warrant a 30 inch wide/ 24 inch deep pantry. can some of the lower wall in the hall area be used for some open storage...shallow shelves can be useful. once you eliminate your large pantry you have better options.

@herbflavor If you are referring to the width of the kitchen - the entire width is 86" across. The middle walkway is 35.25". I'm not sure what you mean by hallway aisle, but the wall behind the pantry (a structural column represented as black) is planned to have a 7" deep floor to cabinet on it (facing doorway at other end of hallway. To accommodate this, we are making a diagonal cutout in the sink side cabinet at the end of the run so that there is sufficient turn radius to get into the galley kitchen and not interfere with the 7" cabinet. do you mean 7 inch deep floor to ceiling cabinet with fixed shelves ..facing down the non kitchen hall? [the back of this is against the black rectangle?] if so, eliminate the pantry. you need to maxiimize counter areas on left and right side of kitchen

@herbflavor Yes, the 7" deep shallow cabinet will face down the non-kitchen hall. Yes, we will eliminate the pantry. I have some concern about lacking deep storage for some bulky items, but it seems necessary to eliminate the pantry and move the Refrigerator down to the end of the wall.

Be sure to check the drain requirements of the washer/dryer you're considering. For example, the GE GFQ14ESSNWW requires a 30" standpipe while the LG WM3555HWA requires only a 24" standpipe. The GE is also deeper than the LG.

How about a "real life" photo of the kitchen...I see 3 doors (taking up a lot of space with the swing in install) no window....and, big issue, do you own it and have you approached the condo board about what you can and cannot do?

@HU-417221168 Yes. I have added real life photos of the kitchen to my original post. I hope you can see them now. There are two actual doors. There are is no door to the dining alcove (top of layout). Yes, I own the apartment. No. There is no window in the kitchen. Yes, there is an approval process to redo a kitchen and any design we propose will be ultimately reviewed by the building's architect/engineer.

Your comment about the refridgerator door hitting the wall next to it when the door is opened more than 90 degrees has made me think twice about totally eliminating the current 12" pantry for more counter space. I like the pantry gone. Move the frig The way your frig door opens, you don't need wall clearance. What's the dimension between the counter edges? An airfyer/toaster oven is used instead of a full size for everything ever since it was installed. Ninja DT501 with stainless interior does everything. The micromis gone. Uf the top door goes to a dining alcove I'd remove it.

I remember you saying that the sink had to stay in its current position. How will there be room to replace a 24" dishwasher with what appears to be a 30" washer?

Compact washer/dryers are 24" wide.

@dan1888 The current refrigerator opens away from the main kitchen. We will change this out. We will be buying a new refrigerator. I now believe that I must keep some room between the fridge and the 5 or so inches of wall that is proud of the current pantry to allow for the door to open past 90 and not hit the wall and allow for the drawers to open in the fridge. The width of the walkway between the two countertops is 35.75" (I incorrectly measured it before). I will check out the Ninja DT501 - thanks for that.
