Your color question - is it for leather or a fabric? Do you have examples that will work? This gets into consultant service territory or a really experienced sales person. I'd try to communicate your examples to a Berhardt support person first. Acouple things are a fastened cushion with polyfoam padding. Poly foam has a 10 year life with support decreasing linearly over the life. The cushion is fixed to the frame and must be cleaned in place. The negative slope to the seat is very comfortable, ime.

In all my years of buying furniture, I only bought a coffee table from Bernhardt. It was glass, iron, and tile. I used it in the family room and it held up. I wouldn't call Bernhardt high end...it's okay, but nothing special. I did do a "yelp" search, reviews were not great...mostly on customer service and long delays and damage.

Jan, I am probably going to do a custom rug similar to this. Sounds like you think I should go with a more basic all upholstered chair since the sofa and Eames will be the stars. One Eames chair.
