I agree with heidihessgriffeth. Is that a closet that the sofa is blocking? With 14 ft walls, pictures could be placed higher. What is the size of the room? Is the sofa blocking a furnace?

here's a panorama of my place - i'm hanging a drum ceiling lamp over the bar top table. (So with the panorama you line up the walkway thru the door lines up with my main door which means the table is on your left upon entering) SF apt - you have to walk thru the bedroom to get to the kitchen, lol, but that redecoration is for another time. I'm looking for ideas for a new color/style rug. I was thinking a similar sized 8x10 jute rug ( http://overstock24.net/handmade-alexa-eco-natural-fiber-cotton-border-jute-rug-8-x-10) or a beige shag rug?

I can move the sofa, I've had it in both spots. It is blocking a furnace which rarely gets used (I pull the sofa out a few more inches during the brief time I do use it)

The art work hangs at eye level. Going to be changing that as well.

Thoughts on a floor arc lamp? Rug colors?

I looked at your rug styles and think both would work. Pick the rug you would enjoy walking on with your bare feet? Your color choices are endless, what are some of YOUR favorite colors? Go shopping at a store where you can see the actual products and have fun! I like your idea for the drum ceiling lamp.

Would it be an idea to put the sofa on the wall that it is facing? And the TV in the space that is now behind the sofa? With shelves above it?
Your rug is a bit large for the space. And I would go for a softer rug than the sisal one you chose. A rug that is about as wide as your sofa would be a good size.

Your sofa is a bit large for the space too. If you at one point are looking for another sofa, get a slightly smaller one.
