Fun project! what flooring is in the adjoining rooms? if it’s hardwood, i’d spend the money to run the same flooring through the kitchen

if you like the Alabaster on your walls, you could also do that for your cabs - keeps things simple

re island i'd leave the existing wood stain ....instead get a different top and create overhang on the short side to allow 3 stools total. I would think eventually the desk gets removed or changed to something else so you could leave that in the wood stain also. the greige or sage island doesnt inspire that much.....you have a large kitchen so leaving the contrast of wood looks better , along w another stool to improve the proportionate amount of space for seating ,

contrasting wood stain island w creamy perimeter . create more overhang / option for 3rd stool. [ improvement to consider at this time] you are aware of "stacking " cabs higher? have you discussed that?
