it likey las a header across the top. to support the arches. I would cut across the top to level it off with the supporting header and trim it out as you would a door opening.

For the most effect square off and frame + less bulky stools.

If keeping as is, still get new stools, remove the round clock, possibly the print on right and if grandfather clock can moved to the left I’d slide it over - won't feel as cramped.

An easy change no matter what you decide to do, is to rethink the far green wall. Suggest two large framed prints, which will feel more balanced and interesting to look at.

Just square it off, I wouldn’t do anything to bring attention to it, sorry, it’s not attractive.

I'd size it as large as you can. It makes a great serving bar for dining room dinners.

I know this isn't what you want, but I like it! (I also don't live with it) What style is your house? A cottage style? It looks like it might go with the vibe of your house.

To me, the decorating is accenting the arches. The clock draws attention to the divider bewteen them and the pictures on the back wall appear to be centered in them. Try removing those pieces and see if it feels better to you.

If the arches must go, a nice big rectangle and new stools are in order.

When you say you don't want to remove it, are you speaking of the wall or the double-arch opening? Are you open to altering the shape of the opening? Squaring it off or at least rounding it into a single arch as illustrated above would be a big improvement.

What do you dislike about it? The arches or the size??? Are there other arches in the home? DH wants to know if a McDonald's tycoon built your home? The arche's support is missing so their strength is compromised.

Yes to new stools. It's amazing how modern stools can transform a space. I would lean to Oncape's suggestion. Keeping the arch singly only makes sense if other doorways are arched otherwise it has no reference in the home. I would encourage you to reduce the decor around the opening whatever you decide about it's shape.

Do you have other arches in the home ? If not square it off to make a pass through that still allows this to be used .

If you don’t want to change the shape consider painting both this room and the kitchen walls in the same color.

No arches unless you are serving burgers and fries. The arches make my eyes want to cross, especially with clocks and small pieces on the wall behind.

That double arch is just not attractive. Square it off, do one large arch, or square sides with arched top -- do something, anything to de-McD's it.

This is an arch. If its bearing, there is a beam over. The arch can be reshaped or filled.

The arches aren’t great but the artwork arrangement is adding to the quirkiness. I only see a face with two eyes and raised eyebrows, a nose, small mouth and a headlamp. Remove the bridge of the nose and consider a different art composition.
