I have a room and noard near me. What is the color name? I don’t trust my monitor, but I think it looks fine with the wood floor.

Put it on a piece of printer paper to remove other color influence and see if there are any warm tones that come forward. Either way, that doesn't mean it will or won't work with your surroundings, only that you can isolate the fabric color. On my monitor it looks very gray with the counters and slightly gray with the floor. But that's not how you would be living with the fabric.

I agree with Spanish. It looks fine with the floor on my monitor too. It is hard to judge often from a photo.

Will you have a rug near it or under it?

I have zero grey in the room and really don't want to add any. I think if the sofas are the only things that have a grey undertone they might look off in the warm room.

I called and asked about paying for a large sample and she said it would take 4 to 6 weeks!

We went to the DC store a few weeks ago and I did find a fabric and sofa that I iked. After I returned home and tried to order I realized the fabric that I liked does not come with the sofa that I like! I should have sat down with a designer but we were in a hurry. It's 4 1/2 hours away unfortunately.

I think it's back to the drawing board.

Can you try to see if R&B will tell you who makes the fabric? You might be able to order a sample much quicker from online fabric vendors.

Do you know if the fabric is indoor/outdoor or Performance? I would not want off-white sofas that weren't in that category.

Also do you know what the rub rating is for that fabric? Ask for the Wyzenbeek abrasion rating of the fabric. I would want a Wyzenbeek double rub rating of 50,000 or greater for a sofa that is used daily.

The fabric I picked for my 2 new sofas has an abrasion rating of 100,000 and a stain protected weave. Years ago I had chairs covered in a fabric that was rated for upholstery, but it was barely the minimum at 15,000 double rubs. I've learnt a lot since then and I won't make that mistake again!

chispa, it does have a rub rating above 50K, all the backs of the samples have good info and I have rejected some good looking colors because of the rating.

R and B does have an unconditional 90 day return policy so if the color was really off, I can return it. I prefer not to do that, it seems wasteful.

It looks cool to me, and goes very well with the counter but not the floor. If you could find a grayish taupe-y fabric with brown flecks it would tie everything together.

It looks cooler against the floor, but when you put it on the granite you can see that it is essentially a tweed of pale beige (warm) and grey (cool). I would call it neutral and intended to be able to play either way. There does seem to be a bit more grey in the mix and that might skew too cool if you want something on the warm side. You can see how the colors that surround it will influence how it reads.

How does the sample work with any other chairs, fabric and rugs in the space?

Is the sofa actually going to be sitting on bare wood floors?

I think it's worth the trip back to actually sit on the sofa and make sure it is what you really want. A lot of agonizing over the color and then to find out the sofa is comfortable. Do you not have a quality independent furniture store closer than 4.5 hours away?

Also hard for us to say from a photo, which can drastically change what a color looks like in real life. Like my photos of my Taj Mahal counters always look cool/grayish, but the actual counters are definitely warm/beige/off-white.

jck - I've already sat on the sofa, DH and I both liked it a lot.

What are the other sample choices then? The one you show we read as a gray, even with the undertone of beige.

eld, so many other choices! I won't bore everyone with them. I just wanted another set of eyes on this particular sample. DH is very color blind so he is no help.

The tepic mink fabric is pretty and would look great sitting on top of your counters. :)
