Final FFO this season

Cooler temps have arrived here.. Cooler to me is when we have mid 80's and the mornings are a crisp mid 60's. I got a bit of weed pulling in yesterday afternoon. The final daylily to have a FFO bloom opened yesterday. I still have blooms opening sporadically around the garden. One of my main reasons to put other perennials and a few annuals in with the daylilies so I have lasting color until late fall. We've had several storms blow through so the garden is kept watered by Mother Nature....thankfully.

I have only seen two Japanese Beetles on the rose bushes. Anyone else seen any?

Rouen Cathedral - FFO yesterday on a nice tall scape with lots of buds. Some of the other scapes are just above the foliage.

So far no deer has tried to get into the fenced garden area (knock on wood). The fence is there to re-train the deer to travel in a different path.

What a lovely color on Rouen! Love the vivid coneflowers. Interesting about the Japanese beetles. This has been the worst year ever here from their invasion. I always cut my rose buds off when they arrive-no matter-they will just eat my leaves off. They decimated my hibiscus and my yellow Texas primrose bushes. They did mot bother my daylilies but I have a friend who told me her daylilies were ravaged by them.

Rouen Cathedral sure has a lot more color for you than mine ever did in Nashville. I always liked that it was very late though. Your perennials look so pretty surrounding the daylilies. I planted some perennials at the end of my rows, but my mowing guys chopped them down repeatedly, thinking they were weeds. I killed four Japanese beetles this year, and I'm sure there were a lot more out there.

I am told that the JB's have been spotted in Tulsa, but I've not seen any. When I was growing roses I saw many many pictures of them devouring roses and I feared the day they might show up. They are totally disgusting. .......I enjoy seeing your landscaping. It's always so pretty. Rouen Cathedral is a pretty pink in amongst the other flowers................. Maryl

Beautiful flower! We have a few JBs as usual, nothing to worry about. On the odd year we have a lot, I use Seven as it really works.

Hardly any J beetles here, but plenty of others whizzing around. Your echinacea pic is outstanding with the different height levels, forms, and color range. The spiky plant is?

mantis_oh: The pink planting in front of the coneflowers is Speedwell (Veronica) called Magic Show Pink Potions. I'll see if it actually is a perennial and comes back next year.
