bathtub dilema...

Hi-- redoing a bathroom -- current debate is if i should include a bathtub. Important fact- i do have one bathtub i can keep upstairs if need be, so there will be one tub in the house. Here is the rendering with the tub... the shower is not visible and is next the the single vanity. If i add the tub i lose about 3 inches of vanity space on either side. I feel like it looks forced in here.... but if it's not here, it's not in the room. I can't put my finger on why it does not look right-- might be that it's too tight to the vanities or not separated by a wall on even a half wall on either side... just giving me the look of being forced in.... If I do not put the tub in, my plan would be a large potted plant and maybe some cabinetry (but not blocking the glassblock). Thoughts?

Your rendering is off, because a tub would never be as tall as a vanity!

You have plenty of drawer space for each vanity, so losing a few inches from each side won't be the end of the world and will give the tub the space it needs.

We did a tub and separate shower in our master bathroom, but it is the only tub in the house, with the guest bathrooms having nice sized showers.

The arrangement looks out of balance -- as if you are lining up all your "furniture" along two walls. Do you have a sketch showing the room dimensions, doors, windows?

If you already have a bathtub elsewhere in the home, I usually recommend prioritizing a layout that feels open and functional rather than forcing in a second tub. A well-designed walk-in shower often adds more daily value than a cramped tub. Moving the shower to the corner and opening up the space sounds like a smart decision. My advice is to leave enough breathing room around the vanity and use that area for custom cabinetry or a large plant to create a more balanced, spa-like feel. A bathroom should feel intentional—not like every fixture had to squeeze in.
