OK now that I'm done being silly...let me just say...yeah this stuff sucks. There are two main species in my garden, though I think I've spotted Jay's native one here and there. There's a taller one, that won't seed in a lawn if mown even three times a season; for some reason I think it might be a wild form of beach Paspalum. OTOH the hideous 'Dallis Grass' is what Dave's picture shows, or a closely related species. Quinchlorac turns it red, but Claude assures me this comes nowhere near killing it. However when I am spot spraying for crab grasses or foxtails, I will sometimes spray it, just so that in 2-3 days later I can relocate where it had been. With MSMA banned (not that I'd want to use it for its environmental fate, anyhow) all you can really do now it spray with a non-selective (the shikimate inhibitor that dare not speak its name LOL) and hope your lawn fills back in. (because a lot of my lawn is junky Poa trivialis, that will happen, fast in a wet year...if those ever come back!) You really must try to stop it from going to seed. Even right now I have one I have to go out with a bag and pair of scissors and cut all the fruiting stems off. Because I think some had started dropping, I actually 'excised with wider margins' this time, to use medical lingo, and am going to BURN the patch in a week or so when it's dried up. And in meantime, not mow over that area which could fling the seeds. This very extreme measure it how I have eradictated the evil goose grass from the highest quality grass quandrant of my yard. It is still sort of infecting the 'badlands' near the entrance to my property, where crabgrass and other weeds from my neighbors' hideous scalped lawns are constantely blowing in. Ironically I'm more worried about keeping the goose grass out of their lawns than out of mine, I don't want it spreading back to compete with their crab and bermuda grass! Which is what scalping in sun selects for around here. (in shade, Microstegium, obviously) At least when crab grass blows in from these idiots, I can know it's something that is easily controllable. Goose grass needs acclaim or fusilade, which is slower and more tedious to use.
