I wonder if they are already sold out. Annie Laurie McDowell is one of my White Whale roses and I jumped at the chance to order it. I don't see it on their listings and when I searched for the name nothing came up.

Thanks for the offer! We'll check with Kim to make sure he's OK with sharing cuttings, since occasionally Burlington has this available (but it sells out almost instantly). I appreciate you alerting us to the Rose Petals availability even if it didn't work for me. There are many other rosarians desperately seeking ALM!

Does Burling still carry it? When I was looking for one she told me she no longer has it. I think Reverence for Roses and Rose Petal Nursery were the only two carrying it anymore. It'd be great if she has it again, I'd hate to see this rose disappear from commerce

She used to, but it sounds like she lost her mother plant. Reverence for Roses is out of business so I'll just keep checking Rose Petals and hoping it comes back to availability. I agree that it would be dreadful for it to disappear from commerce.

I’m not making any big promises because I don’t want to count my chicks before they hatch….

But, I have six fairly mature plants in my garden and I’m currently trying to root cuttings of Pink Cloud to use as rootstock for grafting Annie Laurie McDowell. I’m a newbie at grafting, but I’m in contact with Kim (Roseseek) and he is mentoring me through this. I do have hopes of being able to offer grafted plants of this wonderful rose.

That would be wonderful Judi! A friend has both a budded and an own root Annie and she said the budded one does much better

Judi - that is wonderful that you are propagating ALM grafted with Ki'ms help I think that's the way to go and I wish you success. Obviously I'd be frothing at the mouth for a grafted rose if you're successful, but more importantly you might offer one to Burling or other grafted vendors. Getting this rose back into circulation is more important than (sigh) having one myself.

@judijunebugarizonazn8 I would love to take a budding/grafting class too! Have you begun yet? I’ve now got 4x 1-gallon pink clouds ready for budding, except I have no budwood yet. My plant is but a wee little slip of a thing and patience is NOT one of my virtues, unfortunately.

@SD Shine -Z10a Bay Area @judijunebugarizonazn8: I'm pretty sure that @roseseek (Kim) would be happy to walk you through your budding. He's the reason (and inspiration) I initially got the Pink Clouds plants when I was planning on doing it, and why you have plants from me. It's just that life intervened, and I decided to put it on the back burner for the time being. I shouldn't speak for him, but Kim has always been more than generous and kind with helping rose folks. Try reaching out to him :-D

@susan9santabarbara those plants you gave me are the most vigorous I have ever grown! And they root so so easily, I have a 100% success rate with them, it’s crazy. It gives me false confidence in my abilities lol. I’ll definitely take your advice.

@roseseek do you have recommendations or sources of information that I could start with? I’d love to start practicing on less rare varieties! Thank you so much!

Go to YouTube and search "chip budding roses" and it will bring up a number of videos. This is from Kitty and Bob Belendez from the Santa Clarita Rose Society chip budding on Fortuniana. The only difference is Fortuniana's bark is very brittle.
