Typically, the primary reasons given for a barrel cactus yellowing are 1) poor drainage/soil too wet; 2) lack of nutrients; or 3) excessive sun/sunburn. Might any of these apply?

Possible over watering 2 summers back. think its worth trying to trim the roots and replant after a few days?
