is the end of the upper cabinet aligned with the end of the lower cabinet?

Go to the edge of the cabinets.

Finish off at end of base cabinet.

So don’t line up with upper cabinet? i was afraid a *squared off* piece of quartz above peninsula cab would look weird.

The upper wall cabinet is lined up with base cabinet below, but to the right of base cabinet the corner cabinet starts. that’s where it gets weird as far as backsplash placement

I’d probably end it with the upper cabinet since it’s lined up with the lower cabinet. Just seems somewhat awkward in this case to extend it to the corner cabinet.

I would follow to the end; the backsplash belongs to the counter. It look off to stop in middle of counter run; do a step down to the end if the 18" feels heavy looking.

it should imo go from countertop to bottom of upper cabinetry

you could go up to ceiling at end of cabinetry where it turns. it would have a distinct border from countertop to ceiling with a finished edge also installed
