Such a pretty room. I am a big fan of the full on wall mural w/o the picture molding and no art. I think it best compliments your furniture and house style.

What is the blue option in your last photo? That is my second favorite.

While the blue and white is pretty, I do not think it is the best option for your dining room. But I could see it in a powder room or bathroom.

And yet another opinion - the grasscloth - and I'm leaning towards blue. Green would be my usual choice but not the shade AI selected.

I like the last two pictures, the green and the blue. I usually prefer greens over blues, but in this case I love the blue.

Two votes for the french blue, one for green and 2.5 blue toile. I do not wish to remove picture moldings at this time and re prep the plaster walls so it will stay. The AI green and blue cloth might be off these are the products I asked google to use.

My vote is a tie between the first mural style or the blue grasscloth. Like sas, I almost always prefer greens, but the blue looks so lovely in there.

Very fun project! Your room is lovely. How about a mural on the walls with less molding and a color or grasscloth everywhere else? I love murals.

You have a gorgeous room and the millwork is the star. I think all the choices you've shown could work, but my least favorite was the original choice with the blue. It's still pretty, but doesn't make the most of your molding.

I really liked the first pic of the green grasscloth. It looked darker than sage green in that pic. If it was me, I'd go for the grasscloth. I like the blue as well. Maybe try it with a slightly darker blue. I think the darker colors would give you a bit of drama. Always good for a dining room!

I would likely keep the the large wall’s art as it is sentimental. The large map was a gift to my husband when he became a US citizen and the ”botanicals” my daughter and I did on a hike when she was little. All others can go.

What a beautiful space you have! It can handle all your ideas. Having such a hard time choosing a favorite, I'm working on eliminating options.

I do not plan to change the grey and blue/green living room at this time. The kitchen will hopefully get a simple makeover first. I will try to pick colorways that might work with the existing dated living room.

I like the grasscloth - I would sample several greens + blues in order to decide. The murals look nice also - I'm just not a mural person (plus, I really like grasscloth).

I keep returning to the grass cloth. The framed version in blue is beautiful.

I too am very happy that your DH is doing better. You've both had a lot to deal with. Much more important things for sure.

Planning for grass cloth is easier, safer and far less expensive for me. I have hung wallpaper but never a mural and i would likely have that hired out. The cost is not an issue if I love the final product but if it costs thousands I would likely keep it even if i hated it. I love the idea of a mural though. I do tend to be a one and done and very rarely redo rooms just because. I hold deep attachment to things and styles even long after they have dated themselves which is why the bolder choices worry me a bit.

I really like them all. Mural is my favorite but I understand the backing away from that one.

I love the countryside mural. I think it makes the room look exquisite. Its a beautiful room with lovely proportions. It can carry that look well. My second choice would be the lighter green grass cloth.

Thank you for all the lovely comments. I wish I could work at MTnR’s decision and execution speed but I am a turtle riddled with indecision. I am going to paint the molding areas semi high gloss now and order samples of grasscloth and I might try my hand using a cheaper mural to practice with. I did this with sticker tiles in my vestibule before committing to painted tiles.

I am open to other ideas. The fabrics can change but I love my loribaft style wool rug it feels so nice under foot and I would not paint any furniture but I can edit out pieces. In some pictures the table is actually two tables pushed together to hold twelve it is usually only a six seater single table.

^^That describes me to a 'T'. Which is why 'dated' is not generally part of my vocabulary. When I like something a lot that's enough for me as my attachments run deep as well. Roarah, which of the ones you've considered so far touches you the most; which in your beautiful room makes your heart sing?

I like your art, both how it looks and the meaning behind it. Even if I went with a mural I'd keep it. I love murals peaking out from under art.

That said, my first choice is still green grasscloth, the one you first posted. Even though it looks bright, I think it makes the dark wood of your pretty furniture look happier and fresher, if that makes sense

When you redo the walls I might move the art around. I think the size and the visual weight of the map (dark frame) looks heavy paired against the set of botanicals. I might try to put two larger dark framed pieces instead of six small ones where the botanicals are, and move the botanicals elsewhere in the room? Or something like that?

What if you switched this artwork? Then make the botanicals go horizontal 3x2 instead or 2x3 in their new spot?

I love that idea! Originally I was planning to move the map above the book case if it is not too overwhelming and i have 9 gold framed prints of english landmarks stowed for when this is finished to pair on the window wall.

The english prints and frames hold no sentimental vallue at this time. I found the prints in a consignment shop and the Framed I purchased at micheal’s when i did the botanicals so I do not need to use and I do agree a rethink and edit after the paper is complete is in order.
