my doors are brass and just like yours---was it hard to paint them- did u take down? I do agree black would look better and glass tiles awesome!

I see you have reddish tones in the wood and chair in the picture. I'd probably paint the metal black (it appears you have a black or dark wood plant holder in the corner). You also have black caning on the mirror over the fireplace. I think black would look great. And you could leave the red brick to match the other items in the room.

Motownmom has it right. Black will tie it with the other elements already in the room (wrought iron plant stand, leaded glass mirror, and black accessories on the mantel). You have a beautifully proportioned fireplace and the red brick fits in very well. Paint the screen black and leave everything else as is. You are finished.

I would paint the fireplace black. The tile seems to go with the color in your chair.

This? It is the red brick which is distracting. Use black on the mantel/surround to make the doors work.
