Discovering proliferations in the garden

I discovered 2 of the Reimer daylilies, Cosmic Waves and Purple Pathways, have proliferations. Anyone else finding proliferations on any of your daylilies?

I was only able to get a couple of pics of daylilies blooming here. It was raining on and off most of yesterday so no outside work.

Flying Trapeze - still blooming and the color is much deeper.

Telperion - this Korth is another one I just love. New to the garden this year.The lime green edge and throat really sets off the near white color of the bloom. Did really well here and opens perfectly each time. This is the last scape and I also discovered it has a bee seed pod on another scape.Should I cut it off?

Carolina Sugar Daddy - nice trio of blooms.

I'm planning on taking out most of the purple Bee Balm. It is really overtaking other plants in the garden. It is a thug in the garden. The bees have enough other plants to feast on.

We are finally getting iron handrails put in for the hillside garden steps. That work should start later this month. 90's returning by the end of the week.

I haven’t noticed any proliferations yet. I always pinch off those unwanted seed pods. I would rather have the energy going to the plants than to making seeds. Telperion is an eye catcher…..always a bonus when the ruffled edges always open properly.

Telperion is a pretty one, and that's a plus if it always opens well. If I had a bee pod on it, I would harvest the seeds and plant them. Carolina Sugar Daddy is a nice one to have blooming late in the season.

I like the colors of Telperion. Flying Trapeze is a pretty one. I have a reddish beebalm that is also quite ”healthy”. I dig up the fringes of it every other year and plant it at the edge of the woods behind my house. It blooms quite prettily there and deer keep it from a take over.

90's returning? We won't be out of the 90's (plus) probably until the first of October. Grrrrr......

Sure is a pretty trio of Carolina Sugar Daddy. I had to look it up and was surprised to read it listed as Ivory. Looks more beige to me. Still good form though......Teleperion is my favorite of this group. That edge has my toes curled...............Maryl

Carolina Sugar Daddy is actually more whitish here in person then what the pc shows. Not sure why my IPhone distorts the color.

I have red bee balm or at least there was some near the stone walls on the hillside garden area. Unfortunately the deer have been a big issue in the open areas this year. I'm still trying to figure out a solution to keep them away from the bushes and plantings in that area.

Maryl: I do not know how you manage with your temps.

I really like the first 2 flowers a lot!

I had a lot of prolifs this year, far more than usual. A good number of my seedlings and VTs have them as well as a few others.

Nationwide, the whitetail deer population has exploded--far more than in colonial times. Departments of natural resources are not, I think, dealing well with the issue. Increasing numbers of communities are bringing in sharpshooters, a program that the natural resource department facilitates, but not a solution.
