Also, my plan right now consists of several crumpled up pieces of graph paper on the floor. I don’t know where to start. The only thing that’s locked in is the doorway to the room is on one of the 12 foot walls.

I was thinking maybe putting the headboard of the queen bed on the opposite 12 foot wall, and putting the powder room in one of the two corners of the room that’s on either side of the doorway as you enter. Not sure about the dresser.

I so appreciate any and all suggestions of placement of queen bed, powder room (also, size?), and dresser.

Depends on where you live if a 1/2 bath has a shower in most places near me a 1/2 bath is the same a s PR , sink and toilet. Yes we need the plan and I have no idea why this hard you measure each wall draw it to scale and show windows and that entry door .

If you draw it out showing door and window locations, it makes it easier to put together a plan. Are window locations already determined or can they be placed wherever it makes sense? 48" should be plenty for a powder room, which leaves 12x12 for a bedroom. That should be quite workable with the right placement.

Windows will be placed wherever they make sense. Absolutely nothing is in stone except the doorway on one of the 12 foot walls. Thank you for responding!

Drawing it out, even if it's just 3 blank walls and one wall with a door, will make it easier to lay it out. It's also good to know where the room relates to the outside, so windows can be placed where they make sense. Is the room at the back of the house, the front of the house?

We have started our project.

I am going to the camp site today. I will try to include a picture. We used the breezeway idea, too, and love it. The breezeway is 10’x7’ with this 16’x12’ bedroom. Thank you for your drawing! I like the idea of a wardrobe corner! Forget the dresser.

One of the reasons I was thinking dresser was because of a surface for the tv for my husband. I don’t watch much, but he’s addicted ;)

I’m sure I can find somewhere for a little tv.

To answer the ”where” question, this bedroom is going up in the side yard of our camp, and a breezeway is connecting the two structures.

@Lyn Nielson - I'm curious regarding where you reside - I've lived on the East Coast/Northern Midwest/Midwest/West Coast - a "half bathroom" has always = a powder room (actually, "half bath" is used more than "powder room" - and RE listings show it as "2.5" bathrooms" = 2 full and 1 half bath). In the places where I've resided, a toilet/sink/shower is referred to as either a "3/4 bathroom" or is simply referred to as a "full bathroom" (this has been a more recent trend to simply refer to a bathroom without a tub as a full bathroom) - RE listings follow the above also).

It's interesting how things are named differently depending upon where you reside in the U.S. (example, a sofa vs. couch vs. divan vs davenport).

Dani_m08, yes, all that. We live in the Mid-Atlantic region. Here, the terms half bath and powder room are interchangeable when referring to a bathroom with just a sink and toilet, but between the two, half bath is used the most.

I haven’t seen the term 3/4 bath used around here, yet. Listings name the bathrooms as full or half.

I've always though of a 1/2 bath as sink and toilet. That's how it's listed on RE listings in my area as well. I've seen sink/toilet/shower referred to as 3/4 or 3 piece bath. Sink/toilet/shower/tub is sometimes referred to as a full bath or 4 piece bath.
