Not here. It's interesting how plants progress in different parts of North America. The spring ephemerals begin blooming in the deep south 2 months before they do in Illinois. It's still the middle of winter then. At some point like *now* August the plants blooming down there line up with the plants here. Right now Swamp Milkweed is blooming here and in Alabama. Next thing will be the autumn flowers will be blooming up here before they are down there. Your growing season in Canada is even shorter. Have you ever thought about living and gardening at the equator, where zones and seasons don't matter? We could grow all the tropicals we wanr with no worries.😆

The Japanese anemones are in bud but looking very sad. We have had no rain now for 7 weeks.

I wish the drought here would kill my anemones. I cant get rid of them!!

Interesting hearing anemones can be aggressive. I've always had trouble getting them fully established! But I have a clump now that surprised me by looking ok through the dry spells in spring (knock on wood but we are doing much better on rainfall now, having already gotten 1/2 of our normal rainfall for August) so they can clearly root very deeply after a few years.

We've had some rather nice-ish weather the last week or so. It's been a bit too warm and humid for me, but the mornings in particular have felt rather autumnal. They've been quite nice mornings, but while they have a bit of that fall vibe, it's not sweater weather yet by any stretch.

So I would say it's still summer here. Dahlias and zinnias are just starting to bloom, and I have yet to pick my first tomato (other than two little cherries lol).

I love fall, but I don't want it quite yet - because that means winter is around the corner!

It's summer to me until mid August. Then most of the time, things are already changing. Cooler nights and mornings even if it's hot during the day. And I was just looking out the kitchen window about 7:30p last night and thought it really was starting to look like a fall dusk. And earlier. I love the fall, can't wait. Your garden is looking great Rouge!

I love anemones (the autumn bloomers). My 'Honorine Joubert' has been with me for 20 years, well-behaved but not really increasing, sadly. BUT my 'Pamina' is trying to take over the planet -- it's just shy of being a thug! It has jumped my big cobblestone garden edging and infiltrated the lawn area. Ho-hum, time to deal with it again...

Your garden looks so lush and beautiful; I especially love the hibiscus. My garden is currently a bit crispy, and we're all in survival mode until sometime in September unfortunately. Can't wait to feel autumn in the air here.

For sure. Same here. So the flowering of anemone and triloba is much to do with the changing amount of daylight which humans can't influence ;).

Yep, crispy death all round. The Japanese anemones I have had in my garden for over 35 years have diminished to one smallish clump. Truly, a whole re-think is in order...but doing so at an advanced age is always a bit of a triumph of hope over experience -not that experience has ever really added that much to my overall competence...but hope - I am big on that.

rouge your gardens are looking fabulous!

R. triloba is flowering but A. Robustissima has just buds. If yours is A. R. then you are doing a great job of keeping the glorious thug in check.
