This reminds me--we had one of those top-rated high chairs when my kids were young, that you could remove the tray and push it to the table. That was a big mistake--my toddlers found the holes where the tray was removed, and would stuff food in them. It was a nightmare digging out crusty cheerios and half-eaten grapes. Nothing is child-proof when it comes to cleaning.

But I do think that all-wood chairs are the easiest to wipe down. I'd do a search for "easy-to-clean wood dining chairs" and go from there.

Is she near a Room and Board or Crate and Barrel? They have similar chairs there, I personally would want to sit in one before I purchased it. Or perhaps she could buy one to test it out before ordering the entire set.

I’d suggest she also check out Blu Dot Clean Cut.

@Feathers11, that is hilarious about the kids stuffing food in the peg-holes, but probably not so funny to you at the time! When the kids were in high chairs, DD used the molded plastic ones from Ikea. She would remove the legs and hose them down - the chairs, not the kids!

@localeater, Clean Cut are great but she wants arms. I’ve edited my original post to add that. One of her friends had chairs from Anthropologie that looked like the Clean Cut but were printed, almost as if they were decoupaged. I loved them!

@deegw, I don’t think there is either of those in her town. I’ll check.

I was also going to suggest Room and Board. Or depending on budget, Design Within Reach. I was in both stores yesterday and pretty sure they had similar chairs. Had to go to Saatva showroom to test out mattresses and it was in a design center with lots of furniture stores.

DD found this and likes it but…. She doesn’t like the raw wood look plus it is in Australia and they don’t ship internationally (and even if they did, I’m not sure she would buy it sight unseen and half a world away).

I’m not sure she wants to invest that much into chairs at this time. They have just all but gutted their house and are totally re-doing it.

These will probably be one of the most used items in her home. For that reason, I would only buy in person.

What about the Crate and Barrel Virage. My minimalist’s heart finds it very pleasing and it gets good reviews for comfort. Maybe the ”arms” arent defined enough?
