Agree with wallpaper and replacing the cabinet with storage that is larger and has a more pleasing shape - lots of options on facebook marketplace, you could always find something and paint it black

I think you need to change the wall color.

The mirror doesn't fit with the wall color & cabinet. It's more art deco. Plus it's too large.

I get a black dresser/cabinet larger than what you have now

I echo that a new mirror is needed with a vanity light above it.

Artwork is needed as well as a garbage can.

Maybe shelves over the toilet.

Fluffy towels.

A cabinet with glass doors to replace what you have.

I agree that the room requires some type of tall cabinet to be placed on the wall with the toilet.

Wallpaper is the easiest way to make the room more transitional.

The Powder room connects to a common area that Leads to the other rooms. The color theme of those rooms is light grey wall with white top/dark wood base furnitures from auhaus. The wall color with the tile and black fixtures is a no. When you have the heaviness of black fixtures I recommend softening the stark contrast. Black fixtures rarely look good with a lot of color in the space. For that reason I would keep the room monotone. I would do a dark wallpaper. Remove the cabinet shoved in the corner it looks like an afterthought and it is bringing down the entire space. . If you don’t want to replace the pedestal sink with an actual vanity then I would skirt the vanity so you can store essentials like TP etc under the skirt. It will bring some softness and pattern into the space. Or If skirting the sink isn’t your style I would get a tall and much nicer looking cabinet and place it directly to the left of the sink. Bring in neutral art and frame it in silver to compliment the crispness of the mirror. If you need more “counter space” you could place a stand to the right of the sink to hold items.

I agree with the word "random" used by another poster. This room looks like a couple things were tossed together. What I'd like to see:

- A floral wallpaper with black background. Maybe over the whole wall /maybe with a solid wainscotting.

- Enlarge the small storage cabinet.

- Change the mirror.

- I can't see your lighting in the original picture, but don't skimp on lighting: Add lighting above the mirror /sink and a ceiling light. With so much black, this is necessary.

- If you ever make big plumbing changes, move the toilet so it's on the same wall as the sink. Separating the two items is kinda weird, but -- since it's already laid out this way -- I wouldn't spend the money to change it "just because".

What is the cupboard hiding? It's not random it's on some odd pedistal like there's a pipe it's trying to disguise.

There is a light over the mirror. Should I change that too?

Is the vanity lighting the only lighting in the space or do you have an overhead light as well? Are you willing to do electrical work and drywall repair? If so I would do a sconce on either side of the mirror and then a chandelier or semi flush ceiling light.

Unless you have a second lighting source in that bathroom I would not recommend a reachargeable sconce/light. Likewise are you getting rid of the above mirror light? This will require cappign the wires and drywalling the hole. If you can't hardwire the sconces then just replace the above mirror light with something an updated one. Rechargeable lighiting needs to be placed in an area that isnt dependent on it as the only lightng source as they really do not have enough longevity in the charge to be dependable enough.

Why are you showing another bathroom. Do you need help with that as well?

Okay. However....Houzzers are well aware of lighting on the sides of a mirror.

The floral wall mural may be too large in scale to work in your bathroom without over powering it. Consider a smaller scale flower and adding molding below it. Your room is tricky because you have to find a paper that works with the black fixtures and the warm beige tiles.

I think you need to consider some things.

1. What is the style of the rest of your home?
2. What is the architectural style of the home?
3. Wallpaper is an investment . Will you still love this pattern 1,2,3 years from now?
4. You have a large wall that wants art. What type of art will you be combining with the large floral?

Patterns like this tend to date themselves much quicker than more neutral patterns.

Your fixtures and mirror skew modern. Yes pedestals are traditionally based but once they are black then they become more modern by default. The mirror is modern. Bringing in overly traditional elements by way of finish carpentry might not be in the spaces best interest , especially if the rest of the home doesn’t warrant it.

Consider doing a more neutral based patterned paper and bringing in your floral by way of art. Something like this will give you more longevity and you can change the art when you feel like you’re wanting something different.
