Try a night light near the bowl at night...that helps attract them to the correct spot.

This JUST happened to my sister. I brought some corn over, shucked it and next thing she was innundated. I saw the subject line and was going to suggest the ACV/soap because it’s working really well for her. Could it be the proportions? Google is saying 2” of ACV (she is using way less) and just three drops of soap. Are your holes big enough?

I'll try adjusting the proportions. Yes, I poked the holes with a toothpick but moved it around a bit to make the holes a bit bigger. Ugh.

Try a banana peel and some beer or wine or water with a sprinkle of yeast, and use the corner of a plastic baggie with a tiny piece cut off to make a cone/funnel shape - or use parchment paper...

I position the bottom of the funnel higher than in this pic.

vinegar, just a bit of ~unscented liquid detergent. Cover with plastic wrap and make just little finger diameter holes in the top of it.. I use a short glass and only put ~ 2 inches of the vinegar into it.

With a larger glass bottle and some cheese and crackers, you could apply any treatment with your husband or a friend. ;-)

Just plain apple cider vengar works great

I love Zevo The best solution ever! But before them, I learned to just put some wine or vinegar in a dish with some dish soap added and didn’t bother with the plastic cover. Once they get soap on them they can’t fly and just drown in the liquid. I discovered this when leaving a bit of wine in my glass at night and in the morning it had them floating, dead. Didn’t even require the soap! But soap added is more effective.

We’ve put out a saucer of red vinegar and a drop of dish soap, no cover, and it traps plenty.

Oddly, we have gone all the way through August withtout fruit flies! After noticing this, however, I’m sure we will be inundated. It’s one of those Murphy’s Law Corollaries.
