What size entry hall table?

When choosing a table for the entry, is the size measured with the front door open or closed? I have a very small entry hall and with the front door open, it leaves about 34" for a table. Or, can the table go BEHIND the door? If I measure the table with the door open, then when the door is closed, the table will be off center on the wall (the door opens towards the wall. The kitchen is on the other side- no wall).

Unsure what to do. Any help is appreciated!

This is not our home but same floorplan and you can see the front door.

I’d measure with the door fully open first to make sure the table won’t interfere with it or the walkway. and Yes, you can place the table behind the door. I’d prioritize the door swing and walking clearance over centering the table perfectly on the wall.
