I love shower curtains, and that is where I would start here for the most impact. Then ROman shades from Two Pages for the window. Or cafe curtains if they need privacy. Or matchstick bamboo and cafe curtain (a la moi).

A big rug to cover a lot of floor (washable or indoor outdoor).

I think a lot can be done, but the starting point to me, is the pattern of the shower curtain. And that is almost like pciking out a painting for someone else! No idea of their style or color preferences.

I think just getting in there and living with it will help with choices. In my current bathroom, with a long vanity, I though I’d want two separate rugs (two sinks). After moving in, I realized I’d prefer one long runner instead.

It really is a blank slate, so many ways it could be styled. It looks well taken care of (and such a pretty view of trees!).

They should choose whatever color combinations they like, really. I would remove that little cabinet over the toilet since it looks like they have plenty of storage in the long cabinet and just add a framed poster or piece of art there. If they can't find a shower curtain they love, it is easy to make your own with a grommet maker from a sheet and then use a clear liner behind it. If I could do it, anyone can.

Ditto what others said re: shower curtain, rugs and accessories. I'd add replacing the lighting and add some greenery. I think adding cabinet hardware will make it look less builder grade.

I just looked, and you can find shower curtains (new in package) for very good prices at Poshmark and Ebay. Robshaw and Anthro have some interesting ones.

I'd pair it with a Dash & Albert striped rug (the cotton ones wash up fine for me, in a laundromat) and Two Pages custom cafe curtains. You can find a new light for over the sink for a good price at Lowe's.

Once you ID a shower curtain you like, ask ChatGpt to create a few rooms around it with those suggestions. If you aren't used to using it, just keep telling it what you want or what needs to be changed. Double check its work.
