Are you painting the whole house as well as the door? Or just the door?

Remove thos shutter they in no way belong there and the octogon window is not helping either . If possible change that window too. Then why 2 colors of siding ? I would do almost any color you like for the door but is that a door you love or do you think paint will make it better? If this one stays make sure the side light and frame are all painted too . I might try a mustard yellow .Some great landscpaing will be the big plus for the house probsbly next spring so all winter to plan that and I would widen that stoop too. For me right now that window would be my first priority and where I would spend my money .

I agree you should remove the shutters. They add to the patchwork effect and are the wrong size for your windows. I would paint the wood under the windows to match the siding. Those two things would go a long way to making your house look more cohesive.

If you are keeping the wood under the windows dark and the shutters, then, I'd paint the door to match the siding. Otherwise, I might go with a yellow that is a little darker than your siding. Anywhere from a pumpkiny yellow to a bright yellow. A brown that goes with your roof might be good, too.

You could use some landscaping, too.

I would not change the octagonal window. It's an interesting element and changing it would probably not be worth the cost. With less of a patchwork feel, the octagon might work better, too.

Paint the wood under the windows to match the siding, imo that is what needs the most attention. Also remove the shutters.

Need more information - was the house recently painted and you just are stuck re: the color for the front door?

The house would look nicer if you (i) removed the shutters (they do not work for your windows), (ii) painted the wood under the windows to match your siding, and (iii) developed a landscaping plan for the front of the house.

I would paint the wood under the windows and around the front door SW Polished Mahogany

to compliment the foundation brick and unify the color. Remove the shutters.

Paint the front door including the side light a light blue. like BM Soft Jazz or something brighter.

Yes to everything @Sigrid said! It was the same as I was thinking as I was looking through the comments. I would also paint the corner pieces of the siding the same as the siding. Since everything on the house is warm, I suggest a cooler color for the front door in the green family.

If you like the chevron element of the wood under the window, you might be able to get a semi-solid stain that lets that come through. It might be a visible element now, and the shaded photo hides the pattern.

Here's a non-AI sketch of some simple options, as suggested above:

Shutters removed, window trim added, below-window areas painted to match siding, door painted a deeper yellow, simple landscaping planted.

Take off the shutters, paint everything that light beige color. Paint the front door navy blue or sage green.

Or light trim and wood (or wood color) door?
