Any AI Image Experts? Or Even Novices?

Here is the back side of our house. We are going to have the balcony (from the upstairs bedroom) removed, and (probably) 3 large/wide windows in place of the slider and windows on the longer side of the house (where the balcony covers now). Will also have the same kind of window on the 2nd floor where the balcony will be taken down (there is a slider now).

We want Trex (or similar) decking and some kind of new railings. I actually like the look of the house now and am concerned about how we will change things.

My husband would like railings with the cables between them. I'm not at all sure about that. Frankly, I'm worried about "remuddling" ... making things worse than they already are.

Is anybody willing to try to use AI or other to show me what various looks might be? Can anyone do mock-ups for me? Colors for decking, types of windows (they should be able to be opened), railings, etc.?

Please help me not hate what we end up with.

Your current deck looks nice in the photo. I assume that there must be issues with it - otherwise, it wouldn't make sense to replace it.

What is the name of the color of your house? Is it siding or has it been painted? I am wondering if you will repaint it sometime and need to make sure the deck is neutral enough in order to work with whatever color you decide to use in the future?

I am an AI novice - just started using it about a month ago. It is really simple to use. It would be best if you tried using it vs. having someone make you images - that way you can make changes to the images. Otherwise, you will have to continue to ask people for help.

Also, it makes it difficult for someone to make a rendering for you when you aren't providing any direction (other than removing the balcony deck + replacing the sliders with windows + adding what your husband likes for railings but not what you'd like to have).

Here is an image that I quickly had created based upon the style of your existing home.

You'll notice that the image accidentally has horizontal balusters on the right side of the railing - it should be all vertical. I think horizontal ones are too modern/contemporary compared to the style of your home. However, the mistake that AI made by adding the horizontal balusters on the right side might provide you a way to compare the two styles a bit.

FYI - since I didn't know which style of windows you have on the front/sides of your home - I added casement windows. Also, the windows are sized to work with the bay windows. Obviously, you can change them if you want something else.

Are there muntins in the bay window? AI decided that your bay window has muntins, so it made sense to add them to the new windows. I don't really see muntins on the bay window - however, I thought maybe I missed something. It's not difficult to remove the muntins if they're wrong. I would think that with a lake view, you wouldn't want to have anything that blocks the view from inside the house.

It would be helpful if you showed a photo of the front of the house.

We did our deck about 4 years go and went with TimberTech. It has held up very well. There are good earthy color options too. Worth looking into.

Here’s a couple other of ideas:

Thank you everyone, Well done!

To answer some of your very appropriate questions, Dana, yes, the deck is rotting (we've fixed and restained it and protected it several times) and the railings are warping. It's not safe and the upkeep has to be too often now.

The house is sided. I can't imagine that we'll ever change it.

Yes,there are muntins on the window on the top left. I didn't consider that when we've been thinkng about windows. We'd really hope that the windows wouldn't have them and that they'd be larger . Or at least a large one in the middle and a smaller one on each side if that works best. The contractor will put support beams inside the wall between each window,

My choice for railings would be white PVC but my husband isn't fond of that idea so that's fine. Although I wouldn't mind seeing a mock-up of that. I don't care for black raililngs, etc. I think that the black phase will die out before too long.

Dani and Emily, your AI skills are great. I've not tried to learn but will do so. RedRyder, thank you for the suggestion of TimberTech; I'm sure it's a lot more cost-effective!

Again, I appreciate everyone's input.

Check with local jurisdiction(s) to see what regulations there are for in, at, or near the water's edge. They change and are misinterpreted quite often.

Do you have children? Check code. Horizontal balusters create a ladder for children to climb and thus might not be code. Code or not they are counter indicated with children.

Arcy, good point; thank you. No, we don't have children or grandchildren.

Prime Estate Studio, thanks.

To my eye, your current deck is so large and has so much railing that you would be best served by choosing railing materials that are very subtle. Like the black in Dani’s sample or the cable in Emily’s sample. Those are much more attractive (to me anyway) than the busy wood/trex that you currently have.

If you don’t have little ones, but a great view, this is another idea.

Yes, RedRyder, we've considered that type and they're very attractive.. I just wonder how difficult they are to keep clean. Hmmmm ... (low maintenance is key!).
