I bought this game (Sollataire) 20 or so years ago, and I thoroughly enjoy it! Well worth the price. I don't remeber what I paid for it way back when, but it's been well worth it to me. I've paid a nominal fee for upgrrades when I replaced my PC, and I think each upgrade gave me additional games. Not sure how many I have now, well over 500, I'm pretty sure. Who knew rhere were that many versions of solitaire!

Are you familiar with the site Steam? It is a hugely popular place to buy computer games of every kind imaginable.

I just looked, and they have a bunch of free solitaire games, as well as low-priced options. Once you buy a game on Steam it's yours to keep - and download to your computer to play off line. You need to sign up for an account, but there are no fees, except when you buy games.

While you're there, you could branch out to other types of games, or at least look around. I am a huge fan of Lego games - Lego Pirates of the Caribbean is my favorite. There are some puzzles and lots of exploring areas to collect items, but mostly smashing and building Lego things, which I find very satisfying.

Thanks for that info.......I had heard of Steam, but I thought it was a "rental" place to play via a monthly membership. I'll check them out.

I wish I had thought to buy a few games when I spent what seemed like unending hours in hospital waiting rooms without TV or WI-Fi - not even 5 year old magazines. I had books on my phone but the bright lights, noise and constant activity was not conducive to reading, even with ear buds. I just couldn't concentrate.

Steam sounds like a good source. I don't play games on my laptop but if I add a few I'll be prepared for the next round of waiting rooms or flight delays.

I buy mine on the app store. i have a hidden object, spot the differences and a scrabble type word game.

i agree with Marie. Games are an easy distration when the local us not conducive to reading a book.

The handy thing about Steam is that you can download games to your computer at any time. I replayed a favorite game recently, one that I bought a dozen or so years ago, and I simply downloaded it again - it didn't take up space on my hard drive when I wasn't playing it. New computer? No problem.

I have been using BigFishGames.com for years. You download their games console to your PC, and can demo 1 hour of play before buying games, also can play them on- or offline.
