Big change, how long did it take you? It's really beautiful.

Started with a steamer and the amount of water that came down the walls was excessive so I gave up with that technique. I switched over to the round scoring tool using the DIF spray. It was really difficult to get off, but I managed after about 40 man hours and was able to keep from ruining any drywall. I have one more bathroom to do with hideous red wall paper that is TWICE the size of this one. I'm dreading it :/

Trying to get that mirror down was a process too. In the end, my husband covered it with a plastic tarp and had to take a sledge hammer to it to get it to break! It was attached to the wall with some sort of black tar!!

The black tar was an adhesive called mastik. If you have any more mirrors to remove, cover them with the sticky shelf paper or contact paper before taking the hammer to it. That will contain most of the chards.

It's incredibly nice. Very charming, fresh, up-to-date and beautiful in every aspect. I know the work that goes into that sort of project. Very commendable. The thing I find "odd" is the reflective tile sort of imitates the look of the foil you eliminated. But NO DOUBT! It's a real stunner. Gorgeous job. You could be a pro!!!

@greg - lol, I guess you're right! It's glass though and I fell in love with it :) - when standing in the bathroom it doesn't look like foil thank god, the photo just pics up the reflection. I have done all the tile work in all the homes my husband and I have owned, I really enjoy it, so I like to think I have the experience of a pro. Thank you!

Looks great! What are the dimensions of this bathroom and what are the dimensions of the vanity? How much room Is there from front edge of the toilet to the sink? We have a tiny half bath that I think is about the same size and I really like the way yours turned out. The tile behind the mirror is great too! Is that a medicine cabinet type mirror?

@jacissa, the bathroom is 3'x 8'. The vanity is 30" wide (from Lowe's) and the distance from the vanity to the front of the toilet is about 3'-6". It's plenty of room, you cannot even touch the vanity when sitting on the toilet. The wall tile also came from
Lowe's, it's glass and it's gorgeous, picture doesn't do it justice. The mirror is not a cabinet, it came from
Lowe's and is the same maker as the vanity. Everyone loves how the bathroom turned out, minimal cost and big impact! :)

@jacissa, I just measured from the vanity to the toilet and it's actually 4'. Perfect amount of distance for a powder room.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions. I think our powder room is a bit smaller, I feel like I can pee and wash my hands at the same time. :( I think our width is exactly 30". I want to do something similar with the tile behind the mirror. Contemplating a floating sink but whatever we do, we have plumbing obstacles as we have plumbing coming from both side walls by the sink. We also have an off white toilet which hubby doesn't want to replace since it works so I'm not sure a white counter top will work. Again I love the way yours turned out and it does give me some hope that ours will look good when we get to that project.
