They are breaking in!

Western Conifer Seed Bugs

They can sneak in through the narrowest (or, is it ”most narrow” ?) opening. They can fly but usually just hang around the window or frame. If disturbed or alarmed, they emit an odor. Stinky.

They move slowly, so are easy to grasp with a tissue and put back outdoors. We let both the bug and tissue fall to the ground because both stink!

Are these bugs trying to get into your home?

If this is what I know to be a stink bug, it looks like a little walking shield, I have had two visitors recently. One made it in the house and I caught it with toilet paper and flushed it. The other was on my shade that I lower out on my front porch. He fell onto the porch railing and I assisted him off of it so that he could live.

I don't think I had any last year but I have in years past.

We also have the Brown Marmorated Stink Bugs that try to get in.

These are a pest to agriculture and orchards, so do everyone a favor and smoosh kill these. Do not use insecticides because it’s not necessary and we don’t want to harm the small beneficial wasps and insects that naturally destroy these.

These give off a disgusting odor, thus their name.

Ew. I get the occasional stink bug. They are so loud when they fly. I grab them with a tissue and fluch them.

Waiting to see my first mouse now that the weather is getting chilly. I have my Tomcat traps ready to go.

I never heard them called seed beetles. Around here, they are stink bugs, and they deserve the name. I try not to scrunch them because the smell permeates the house.

We got an influx of ladybugs more than 15 years ago. Sometimes there are fist-sized clutches indoors near the corners of windows. I have seen the outdoor air filled with them. The intensity has lessened.

The stink bugs haven’t been here as long and there are lesser quantities but they can be more annoying. Both smell bad. I was being given an orientation tour of restored property associated with Monticello in advance of catering and we were literally crunching them into the oriental style carpet runner.

No one seems to have an antidote.

Not too many getting in. There are gaps between the combination windows, so they get into the house side of the window that way. When I open the house window, any that are on the house side of the combination window just walk into the house.

Just a few here and there, but they are disgusting.

I’ve not seen those but we do get stink bugs. I recall them being particularly bad two or three years ago, but other people were talking about it on Reddit so I took slight comfort knowing it wasn’t just my house.

I usually pick them up with toilet paper and flush. Watch carefully to make sure it doesn’t escape. My bum was startled once, sitting on the pot!
