Reason to hate Google Bots

last modified: 17 hours ago

DD and SIL have a very successful new business. At 5 AM 2 weeks ago they got this message from a Google bot:

A Google robot emailed us at like 5am saying our pages have been disabled. So we had to appeal them by showing proof that we are a legitimate business even though we did that when the pages were first set up.

There isn’t any customer service with Google and DD said they have an excellent company that monitors their SEO stuff but when all is said and done they are at the mercy of this stupidity. They have been able with the help of their company to sort it out but in the meantime they lost uncountable business from missed calls as they weren’t at the #1 spot that they have been at and are back at.

Under AI, everything works great until it doesn't. I dread the hours on hold trying to get help for the issue not addressed by the company's "AI assistant".

I am glad they got it sorted out and are back up and running.

But this isn't a reason to hate AI. What happened to their listing wasn't AI, nothing "smart" about it - it was a "dumb" bot.

AI would have looked at the big picture, using multiple layers of information to determine if this was a legitimate business—like checking their long history of consistent reviews, their active website, or their payment history.

Instead, this was just a dumb bot. It was given a rigid checklist of rules, and the second one of those rules was broken it disabled the listing.

Yes @Jennifer Hogan you are correct and I misspoke. I will correct my heading. Thank you! That is exactly what happened.
