Good morning ladies! What's on the agenda today?
Morning all, school all day and then post office day Kimdee. Wanted you all to see my vines that I picked up in Atlanta,
  • 13 years ago
    Angela, Pretty
it's nice you can still have warm weather. Here in Mi flowers are leaving. I picked all my hydrangeas yesterday.
Sharpki- right now all I am having is rain.
Morning Angela and kimdee, how's it going?
Sharpkl, getting ready to cut mine soon too, have to renew this bunch. Don't you love having a steady supply?
Angela, your plants look great! My front pots are all dead :( Friends who were over the other night were giving me a bad time about it. I need to get out there and get them put away for the winter.
    Mforr,
What type of hydrangeas do you have that dry to a beautiful pink? Mine are white and dry green. I heard if you put a cloche over them they get a darker shade on them.
I have so many I don't know what to do with them. Between hostas, roses and hydrangeas my flowers are fairly carefree. So much easier.

They are peegee's, big giant bush. They start of green, turn white then turn rose colored. They're turning now, but they're still a little multi colored. I'll try to take a pic, might be too sunny now. :) I don't have too many flowers here, too many deer. Loads of trees, bushes and grasses
  • 13 years ago
Wow, it's blinding out there!!! Here's a pic, hard to see, I'll try again later today.
Good morning ladies, how goes it today? Hope everyone is having a fantastic Tuesday.
    Hi Jayme, you too :)
    Mforr,
Some of my hydrangeas. You are right they are so enjoyable.
When you get a better pic this afternoon, I'm anxious to see. What a nice big yard. Do the deer eat hydrangeas.
We have a. Place in Tn and they even ate some of my hollies. I hardly have any plants because we are not there enough to watch and water.I gave up because I wasted so much money on plants.
Thanks sharpkl, yes, lol, the deer are relentless. I don't plant anything at all here, except grasses and daffodils. They also don't touch the autumn crocus, which is blooming now. They will even eat the things that are poisonous to them in January and February. I forgive them. Because they're beautiful and they were here before me. :)
Hydrangeas are lovely, I think they're one of the best things to plant. The deer do eat them but the bush is probably 15' tall and hanging over a stream, whose stream bed is about 4' down from ground level, so luckily they can't reach anything but the lowest branches and stuff in the back, which I can't see anyway.

Yours are beautiful, the colors are perfect for the rooms they're in too. And the spring green in the outdoor photo is just the perfect springtime hue. Which varieties are you growing?

    Morning ladies..........(just slipped in).

Angela, beautiful vines. We probably have a few more weeks of flowers, but the leaves will start changing soon ....

Not much going on today.... raining and I'm working on some design drawings for my wife's office (PD Office) . Have been working with her boss (Chief PD) in an extensive remodeling project. We'll be meeting with the General Services Project Manager on Wednesday to go over the plans and kick things off. New flooring through out the office (carpet and wood), a completely new break room, and big open office area with new modular furniture systems for all the support staff.... and if I'm lucky a new front entry of wood instead of that ugly storefront crap............and ..... listening to some good old tunes from the 70's.........Nothing like a little Joe Cocker and "With a little help from my friends" cranked up to keep the blood flowing............then there is the "Mad Dogs and Englishmen Tour" package to follow..........first concert I went to......I'm tellin ya, it was all that evil weed's fault for everything that happened........and it will be left at that.

Some are the new summertime. Lol I don't know the names of the other ones. I probably knew at one time but it seems I can never remember those ' details' anymore. Some I started from a neighbors plants.
I don't have any as large as yours. I am hoping to look for one PF the nice delicate Peegees like that. Each variety is different.

Here is another finished product by Chuck...
I like that, of course, it looks beachy, lol.
He did a really nice job, is he very booked up? How is/was the dj booth job?
The lady's home is sorta beachy-like, eclectic...the unit has corbels and some decorative trim u can't see well on this, so it's fairly traditional, but the paint and tile make it more casual. I am glad she went with the darker grout, she wanted white....I suggested the darker and think it looks great.
-We didn't get that bid on the weird box....I had a 6th sense on that job...the place was completely torn apart, no one working. He ended up with some better jobs from a lumber company here in town and kept busy with those. They have some more bids out on stuff for him. So far, keeping busy!! Sometimes things happen for a reason. How r u Mforr?

I'm glad to hear you passed on it then, you should trust that little feeling, sixth sense, intuition, doubt. Usually ends up being a good decision. :)
Things are busy here, school is pretty involved this year and before and after school activities have really multiplied this year too. Getting ready for Halloween party, hubby and daughter live for it, lol. I'm happy with Christmas, it lasts from thanksgiving evening until January 6th and then I just wait it out until I can get back to beach again for the weekends. I don't hibernate, but I'm not as animated I think, :)

im glad other people love the flowers as much as I do. It's been a good year for my flowers. I was out today collecting seeds to dry and plant next spring. Then I decided that I needed to redo the redo redo, so I redid the front again again. This time, I thought instead of moving all the lilies along the sidewalk (that I just p lanted) I would move the irises and plant peonies in a row behind the lilies and then have my sea of irises beyond that.
maybe it's all a pipe dream but i'm seeing it as beautiful in my head :) It's still not the way it should be or the way it would be if a wood chuck could chuck wood :) or if a real landscape person were to do it, but i'm having fun and I get nice comments from the neighbors and passersby.
Now what to do with the bucketloads of irises I dug up???
Haha, mousemaker, you send them to ME!!!! What else?
Sounds like a lovely plan, I love all of those flowers, can't have most of them at this house, that's why I went plant crazy at the beach. What kind of lilies?

    Mforr,
Beautiful hydrangeas. Too many to even pick. Do you cut them back in the winter? Mine will never get that big, not that I have room. Maybe I can make room? Somewhere....
We just cut the flower stems back, maybe 18" or so? Not all of them, but quite a few. The hydrangea was not very healthy when we moved here, but I guess it likes the pruning we do, it's grown so much and it looks so much fuller. I'll be cutting a bunch in next couple of weeks. I still have some from last year, hanging in barn. I should probably look for someplace to sell some of them. thanks for appreciating their beauty, they really are beautiful flowers. Love hydrangeas. :)
mforr...love those flowers, I do need some of those hydrangeas! I think I said that last year....I did put in a snowball bush a few years back, but the flowers don't last as long as the hydrangeas.
We too are into Halloween and also Christmas. I love both, and decorate inside and out. I learned to use a lot of white lights so I can leave them up for Christmas and not have to freeze my hands to pieces!!
    mefor thanked Jayme H.

Hey Jayme that job that Chuck did looks great. I have been meaning to ask, how is your son?
