You could throw a sheepskin rug on the backs of the chairs, or faux fur blankets.

I really like the chairs too. Perhaps you can try patterned rectangular cushions on the chairs from www. overstock.com and place some green and creme cushions on your sofa. Bring in the colours with vases on the table.

First, I have to ask what function do they serve? You have seating all lined up against the wall with no obvious conversation area, so it looks a little like a waiting room. Just moving the chairs so they relate to the sofa might be enough.

The brick wall behind and the window coverings are both hard-edged forms, as are the chairs and table. I would replace what looks like vertical blinds with curtains from ceiling to floor, and if keeping the chairs there, perhaps add a rug to define the space. Use lumbar pillows on the chairs instead. They're smaller and will actually be useful.

I'm not quite sure yet. The room is long and narrow and the wall opposite the couch is a work-in-progress (currently has a fireplace and TV setup that I don't like). The pair of lounge chairs are filling what would otherwise be a big gap between my dining table and the couch. It may not serve much purpose other than showing off furniture I like.

I would go for pattern and texture in these chairs since they are so plain already. Looks like you are going for a more modern/contemporary feel. These lamb hair pillows from West Elm or something like them would be great...depending on how deep the chairs are you could even add a small lumber to give even more depth, character and dimension to the space.
Add some books to the table in the middle of the chairs for more color...design books from a local second hand book store or thrift would be great and adding a pop of gold in the way of an accent would add just the right touch. Here are a few pics for ideas...

Perhaps incorporating sophisticated texture and carrying the geometric pattern look from your rug. Any of these pillows would look awesome on your sofa or two chairs.

Maybe a floor lamp for additional lighting, between the sofa area and the two chairs or between the two chairs itself to add height and balance as well.

Add long panels to window ends, remove or keep back verticals. Love the brick. Your chairs are modern, is rest of room? You could recover in a brighter print say gray and yellow. A big fern on table. Let see rest of room. If not in budget to recover add gray and yellow print and a black solid pillows to chairs. Plant in center. Panels a gray woven fabric.

Joe, let me suggest that you reevaluate the function of the room. You say you don't like the TV/fireplace setup, so perhaps you might move these chairs to the fireplace area, and move the sofa and TV here. This would create three separate zones, each with its own function.

A fireplace is a focal point of its own, and a prime spot for relaxing and conversation. A TV is the antithesis of that, so having its own zone, if possible, is usually a good idea.

These two chairs with a couple more around a coffee table, or with a bench and a couple of side tables could be a lovely, intimate space. And I think you'd find that they would look more inviting and less bare that way.

Here are a couple of fireplace conversation groups (though not your style):

Yes, now we have a better picture. I would place the 2 chairs so that they are squaring off the living area. Perhaps you could move the dining table and chairs centred to the kitchen island. The lamp would look great next to the blue sofa. Hope it makes sense :)

Oh, wow. This is a GREAT space. I see you have a mid mod dining table too. Move it out of the corner and into the center of that space. Then, definitely put the two chairs and table facing the window at the end of the room. The leftover space between the two areas will simply amplify the ambiance of the loft.

Those vertical blinds have got to go. They are straight from the 70s. You need industrial chic to combine with your great mid mod vibe. And a mid mod console for the TV to the right of the fireplace.

Try picking up the sage from the rug under your couch as a cushion on the chairs. Bringing in pattern will also give this space visual interest. Also like the idea about the throw to soften the lines of the furniture.

You can also pull in color with a floor lamp, one with a long neck. A tall element would look great with this setup.

Chairs in that location not working. As I said bring chairs up to sofa. You could add a buffet to that wall to tie in dining table.

I love the texture of this pattern. Very edgy. And green looks great when contrasted against brick.

Didn't know it as a loft. Get a reclaimed wood table over 6-7ft long. On side get. Metal chairs Restoration hardware sells. Go a rustic industrial look for your loft. Google look. Google window treatments for ideas. Now that I know it's a loft don't do panels, just solar shades, in black. TV is OK on that wall. But get a media for under it. Alm art has one in reclaimed wood, on wheels for $179. Then remove black piece next to it you can store components etc in the media. Get a section in gray leather with a chaise. On left or kitchen side. You can go big this is a big room. On other side place your two chairs, add black big pillows to them. Coffee table square 36" metal dark or glass and dark trim. Very big art 40x40 or bigger, on walls Z Galleries has some nice ones go contemporary and bold colors. Don't be afraid of color, use it in a big 8 x10 area rug. In a gray, black and a color centered in front of sectional. Big art behind sofa hang all art very low, over furn hang 8" above back.

Put arc light by sofa. Is there a way to hang light over dining table? If so do center hang 36" above table. Go brush buckle industrial, maybe someone can post something for you or you can google chandelier for lofts. To see look. I see window goes behind sect. But hang big art on wall next to it. Use floor lamps very tall in stainless. Or arc lite in stainless white shade. Paint wall behind TV and entire wall a dark gray. Benjamin Moore has nice ones. Add color with art and accessories. Again ZGalleries can help.

Paint big wall by kitchen a bold orange or red. Then add 2 big art pieces. Or add 3 big mirrors vertically across wall. Can be floor mirrors black frames tall 6 ft and wide.

travisinteriors: Heh. I think you've gone quite far off from where I want to go. I appreciate the ideas but I am purposely trying to avoid adding more industrial chic. I feel like the loft itself has plenty of that and I want to offset it with more refined mid mod style.

I've worked a bit on your room, Joe. I moved the chairs and added sheer white floor-to-ceiling drapes. And in response to your original question, lumbar pillows to tie the chairs to the sofa and rug.

In answer to your question about vertical blinds, dump them, but replace them with drapes. I can see you need some privacy at the window on the end, and probably light control for the rest.

And I love the mid mod vibe in this space. It works well here, I think.

Remove the TV from over the fireplace and hang it on the wall to the right. I was going to suggest floating shelves to balance on the left, but it's possible you don't need them. I'd have to see the wall straight on. I think the minimalism of the TV alone here looks good.

Do you know who designed you MCM chairs?

jen046: the chairs are marked Selig but I am not sure which designer. They look most like Ib Kofod-Larsen chairs but they don't match exactly with any old catalogs I've seen online. The difference is usually the back supports; my chairs have horizontal cables while many similar chairs have vertical wood slats.

I was going to say to move your chairs over near the sofa and form a conversation area but then I saw grover's picture. Nice space. You could also try the chairs on opposite sides of the sofa facing each other.

Joe, very interesting. Post them on the MCM discussion and see if someone comes up with it. Like many MCM pieces, the designer got lost in the mass production (example: "Dux" chairs). It would be interesting to know I'd anyone has any thoughts about the origin of your chairs. They are fantastic! I hope you continue to collect.

Great space- you're going in a wonderful direction here. I'd like to see a pop of orange either in a lumbar pillow or table décor. Or my marble ashtray and cigarette lighter with some highball glasses!

I agree with leelee I'd move the couch down a little and put a chair on wither side of it. Maybe recover the chairs in a navy like the couch.

Change the blinds for sure. Venetians could work or long vertical curtains.

A Scandinavian inspired buffet on the end wall, or even wall unit with the dining setting taken off the wall and centered would I think look great.
