Rain showers are very popular right now, but the one issue that I have with them is that it is difficult to keep your hair from getting wet if you don't plan on washing your hair.........

I prefer an adjustable optional hand held shower head. You can raise it for tall people and you can also use the handheld for small children and dogs.

Have something that gives you the option of a fixed head and a flexible one - as this comes in handy for cleaning as well as for when someone wants a quick shower but not to get their hair wet !

Showerheads that slide on a bar are great because they allow adjustable height (for all heights including kids and avoiding getting your hair wet if needed), and it's a handheld and stationery all in one, plus they have several settings including rain, massage, normal.

Removable shower head are also necessary in larger shower to help clean up. In a nicer ensuite bath, we always typically do dual shower heads- one fixed wall with jets, and the other with the shower bar. If the size allows we add the rain head as a third option. The rain head is useless to wash your hair because water only trickles out. However, a multiple head shower should ALWAYS have a diverter, giving the person the choice to have 1, 2 or 3 on if he wishes. Having it all on one run, would be insanely annoying if you had to have the rain head on all the time. You can't really mimic the feel of a true rain head with a fixed or bar shower. The idea is for it to fall like rain, from the ceiling, not project towards you.
