Reinventing 1980's kitchen

Homeowners' deepest desire was contemporary, tons of black cabinets and raise the ceiling. The only caveat was to keep existing granite. 72" uppers, black lacquer and lots of light.

How do you reach the top cupboards? What do you store in them....? Beautiful kitchen!

The client stores seasonal items in the uppermost cabinets. It does take a substantial ladder to reach, but she was in need of maximum storage for her extensive collection of seasonal decor. She uses every inch!

cost and extent of scope of work of this remodel?... so everyone can really understand what to truly expect for a remodel... and understand that this is not a week long HGTV project.

The upper cabinets are 72" per client request. They love them and that is the goal!

WaterMark - this was an extensive renovation of literally the entire 3200sf home so I really don't know the numbers on the kitchen itself.. You are absolutely correct about HGTV doing homeowners a disservice. Our average complete kitchen renovation runs 6-8 weeks and that is contingent on no surprises behind the drywall. Pricing on this one was higher than average because of the enormous amount of cabinetry and attempting to salvage all the lowers in this room. There are so many cabinets in this G-shaped kitchen not shown in this photo.
