Does the gray glass tile come in other sizes?

I think it comes in small squares, this size, or a much larger rectangular tile. No 3x6, it's Walker Zanger Roku glass in sharkskin unless someone else knows?

I think it will be a little busy with that size tile. What about going a different route and maybe try a honed 4" white carrera marble tile

We have the same granite with antique white cabinets - had a tough time picking backsplash too, as the granite is very busy. Didn't want anything to compete with it. We chose a cream glass subway tile and love it.

The cream glass subway tile above looks great. Other options for a more contemporary look is a silver metal tile, or you could do a charcoal backpainted glass tile as well. But for more traditional, the cream is great or a very soft pale grey would both be lovely.

You really should put the granite up as the backsplash. No competition, colour choices or clashes worry about then. I have done the same granite for the backsplash as I have on the bench and can highly recommend it!

But it depends on the rest of the room the paint... Is that the same colour you will be going with for the rest of the room? If so that's a definite yes from me.

Jleigh...I have very similar granite countertops and went with subway cream colored backslash. It is true that the granite is very busy and I didnt want the backsplash to compete. Having said that, I am using a very similar gray glass backsplash in my bathroom where the vanity is Silestone, Lyra design, which is white based with muted gray and black swirls. Sort of looks like white marble. It is calm and understated, allowing the backsplash to pop. I like drama in my decorating and have been told to pick one item or area for that drama. I can tell that you have great taste and whatever you pick will look great!

An option I've used...

Grey! With your light cabinets, the other is too much white.

If you want the granite to be the focus, you should use the off white with the same colour grout (not gray). If you choose to put a darker grout with the off white tile or vice versa, the focus will shift to the backsplash. Your eye will be drawn to it.

As the granite is so busy, I think it would be better to use a plain white backsplash.

I think the cream subway tile goes better with the style of your sink. Your granite is absolutely gorgeous! It needs to be the focus. To me , cream subway is timeless and classic. Your kitchen will look great for a long time.

Yes, jleigh, white is too stark. I like contemporary but your cabinets and granite have a cream base. Your grout color should match the cream UNLESS you want the eye to go immediately to the backsplash. Again, I would go cream and put the "pop" somewhere else.

I want to reiterate cathieg's point about the grout. If you go with the off white subway tile, do not use gray grout or it will be much too busy and compete with the granite. Use off white or alabaster grout. I like the gray glass tiles, but agree that their shape isn't ideal. I'd prefer a more standard subway rectangle if you go with the gray glass--and again matching grout.

The grey looks "dirty". I would go white with white grout.

I have ivory tiles and alabaster grout and have had no problem with it getting dirty all the time. Not quite a bright white, but similar. It all depends on how messy you are when you cook.

Gray or white your call white might make it look more uniformed

I have always had a kitchen with light coloured tile and grout and have never had a problem keeping it clean. The odd mark on the grout has been easy to clean, and the use of a grout sealer can help a great deal as well.

jleigh, I am using white grout with my backslpash in the kitchen. I hope it's not going to be a problem. To me, it's worth the extra cleaning if it's going to look good. However, I don't have children in the house anymore and only work part time. Or, I could go out to dinner more often to avoid the possibility of splashing the backsplash :)

I am leaning towards the crackle off-white subway tile at this point. I hope it's not too much white? I'm also considering DIY...maybe!!

jleigh, can you take another pic from further back? and from a few different angles? Every time you add a pic, it's easier to get a full sense of the room. What about some adjacent rooms too, if they can be seen from the kitchen.

I like seeing the color under the cabinets, (as in the paint color). I agree with you on the possibility of too much white. Especially seeing the floors in the last pic. I assume the floor is staying. It's very pretty.

Go with the very first choice. It is far more interesting and the texture is great. It will not compete with your granite.

Seeing the kitchen from a distance I think an offwhite ( as mentioned before to go with the creamy tone in the granite) would work great. I love the color of the room, but if you ever want to change it the offwhite would be neutral enough to allow any color in the room.

BTW, I love the granite, what's the name of it?

Grout is much easier to keep clean.. ask for power grout.. love the cracked whitte

I wanted to show you pictures of my kitchen. I too really struggled with the backsplash. I ended up going with a cream crackled subway tire . The cream matched the cabinets perfectly, did not compete with the granite and coordinated with the beige in the granite. I am so happy with the decision!

I think both are nice, but if you use grey - you are locked in to that color scheme for years. The off white is neutral that way you could always easily change your wall color - or add pops of color with counter accessories.

Another idea, would be adding the accent color (light grey) on the inside of your glass cabinets. I feel that paint is so much easier to change than tile.
