We use only heavy 14 gauge virgin copper for our copper sinks. As far as the finish, we use a natural process to patina the copper. The interiors of all of our copper sinks are weathered using household vinegar. There is no coating on the copper. Copper with naturally patina (age) to the color of an old penny. If the patina is disturbed, the copper will quickly return to the original natural patina coloration. The regeneration of the patina will only take a day or two in normal home use. That is why we call the interior of our copper sinks self-healing. Thank you for your question.
