You can remove the door fronts and drawers and surely find someone who will spray paint them. Then you or a painter can paint the frames. My cabinets are older, but someone painted them a creamy white, painted by hand. I like them white.

I would stain easier and faster. Paint will chip over time. Go to Lowes. Get a darker stain. Add brush nickel long pulls. Add backsplash. A black subway would work.

Stain them dark in my opinion...espresso color.

Oh do you have backsplash hard to tell. Pendant looks to high drop and get new. A bigger brush nickel.

Add a woven shade in dark brown to window. Lowes or Home Depot carries.

Place a big tray on island fill with items like your jar, and orchids etc. center. Add a nicer bar stools with backs. Industrial looking a Restoration Hardware has them see their site.

Didn't read very careful sorry you want white. Yes get a pro to do. Go cream with a chocolate glaze.

I think ivory or cream would add contrast to your appliances and stools and lighten up the room a bit by reflecting natural light.

Thank you all for the comments. I really wanted to go ivory wasn't sure if there is such thing a " ivory stain" since I only hear or see dark colors for stain option ? As far as backsplash I'm willing to do that too. It's a project hubby n and I can attack this is why I want to pick a nice backsplash option that would work with either the cabinets as is if I can't find a pro to stain them or the ivory color I would like .. Thank all for the opinions and comments !!!

If you are going to do paint really look into having a pro do them, oak is absolutely not a paint grade. Its deep grains really leave an uneven finish on the doors and fronts, if you want them to look as good as they can have someone reface them with a true paint grade and your options will be pretty limitless at that point.

It can be done. I painted my oak cabinets white and am very glad I did it. Be aware that lighter cabinets will show dirt more, and paint will get nicked. If you paint, you should have the grain filled in with brushing putty, which will need to be meticulously sanded to a smooth finish. That step will add to the cost of painting your cabinets. (I did it myself, and it's very hard work!) one other option is to do a pickled finish, which will lighten the wood but let the grain show through. Good luck!

If you want to lighten up the room then paint them a creamy white or Almond color. I did the same to my very yellowed oak cabinets and they turned out beautiful! I have so many compliments on how well that turned out. I hired a professional painter to paint them and it was worth every penny spent. Attached is a picture of what the Kitchen looked like when I purchased my home and then the updated look. There is also rope trim on the crown molding that I had built larger and added.

I dont have any pictures handy at the moment, but we were in the exact situation. We used Rustoleum Cabinet Transformations. I cannot explain the ease of the transformation. Its at Home Depot, and after watching tons of youtube tutorials, we gave it a go. SO glad we did. They were a deep dark dungy but solid oak and now they are a gorgeous almondy creamy color with a decorative glaze. I promise you it wont disappoint.

If you look at The peninsula sides you will see that i had bead board added i felt the solid solid paint look would not be very attractive. Here are some more recent photos where you can see the rope trim that was added as well.

I agree that beadboard would look better on that peninsula... Paint them yourself and save $$$$. The light looks ridiculous with that style. You could glaze an ivory cabinet to add interest.

It really wasn't that much to have them professionally painted. And that way I was done right and very professional. I had my cabinets and a fireplace mantle done for 1,700.00. Go to a Benjamin Moore paint store and ask the owners if they know I'd any great hungry painters. You should be able to get some good references. My painter also used an outdoor paint for sun and durability. That was 2 1/12 years ago and they look great!

Paint or stain of the cabinets is easily accomplished. Stain if you want to see the wood grain. Paint if you don't, or if you want to have the "eyebrow" of the wood frame detail disappear, paint the cabinets a darker color.
