I paid for the material, about 400$. Thanks!

So this is just for labor.

If it's just labor, it's a little high. I would be looking at something more along the lines of $500 at most.

Thanks Thomas, that's about what I was thinking.

Is your contractor a sub or a general hiring a sub? Does the wall need prep work first? $1,000 is on the hi side but could get there depending on what needs done and the jobsite conditions.

The wall is ready to be tiled we have already paid for the prepping.

Seems really high to me! $500 sounds more reasonable!

Depends on the material to be used and the amount of cuts or accent areas. Some tile setters charge extra for certain materials (glass is one where they upcharge) and they charge extra for accent areas and for certain patterns. If you are paying a contractor, who is then hiring the tile installer, then there is a fee built in for the contractor as he/she is taking responsibility for the work of the sub.
