What do I do with this small room???

I have a small guest bedroom that I am trying to decorate. I already have a bed. I do NOT plan to keep this bedding, but I could use some suggestions. There is a window to the right of the bed.
These are the night stands that have chosen.
Suggestions on bedding, colors that go well with grey, and wall color will be very much appreciated.
I was thinking about putting textured wallpaper on the wall behind the bed?

That is a great looking bead/headboard. I don't think the chest (although it's a great looking dresser) works well with the headboard. What color(s) are you drawn to? Gray goes with everything. I think since the room is small, mirrored side tables would be lovely with your bed.

The yellows/gray has been quite popular.

How about a rich, moody blue for the walls, dramatic black for the bedside tables, and muted tones for the bedding?
Darzy, love the yellow and gray you suggested. But consider everyone on here has already bought some kind of mirrored nightstands or side tables or is told to get them. With the right wall color could not the chosen table work? I'm not too fond of the bottom detail but the slight stripe effect is quite attractive. I have seen or rather read so many wonderful ideas from you. This is not to say the mirrored table is not one of them, but maybe you can do some stretching....(from a fan!)

Madeline, I think I know what Darzy means, although I should let her speak for herself lol! The headboard has a romantic, dramatic quality to it, and the night table has a more coastal, casual vibe. Yes, you can usually find a way to make something work - I think she was trying to keep your headboard and night table speaking the same language without an interpreter!
Madeline, you are bringing quite the philosophical spin to your comments. Impressive. :)

Hi Madeline, I actually love that little chest! The stripe is quite attractive but that is one of the reasons I thought it didn't work with the tufted headboard. I was thinking something with curves (like karemore suggested). All the horizontal lines with the diamond tufting headboard I thought would be to many "straight" lines. But, with the boxed bedframe it may work just fine. Funny you mention the overused suggestion of the mirrored side table because I actually hated that I suggested the yellow/gray - another overused suggestion. :)
    I like this chest too.

@unwantedadvice. Maybe it's tonights mood. I have noticed too that your comments are almost always of the"wanted" variety, whether advice or otherwise. I love so much reading these threads, trying to discern the personalities that go with the comments and the lives that go with the "handles" such as yours. @karemore55. I think I've confused you as this is NOT my dilemma! I'm certain Darzy will appreciate the thought of you speaking on her behalf, just as the lovely headboard and night table appreciate talking privately without a translator lurking! In addition just as I read your comments about the table, "casual, coastal vibe, I realized yes, of course, the table would not feel "part the element" with the tufted headboard. Thank you for the quick lesson.

Yeah Darzy yellow and gray may seem like a "boring" suggestion as a suggestion but in a room together they are golden! And I must say yellow isn't very high up there on the "pops" of color scorecard, so your mention of it was a good thing. You continue to amaze me with your speed, because you are always right there to articulate your vision if you feel you have to, so that others will get it. Another thought I wouldn't mind hearing back on, is how can one not worry that a suggestion might be perceived as boring when all throughout these threads, are suggestions and ideas that appear to be based on nothing but today's trends. You know, the drum shade, the millions shades of gray, the reclaimed wood, paint the kitchen cabs espresso on bottom and something else on top. I can't really remember a time when trends in design were quite so repetitive as to verge on, a yawn here, boredom. Sometimes I just LOL and then go to bed. Like right now at 2:00 a.m. here. Nitey-nite all you wonderful GIVING people on houzz.

Karemore...thanks for backing me up. :) You and I do think very much alike and I enjoy reading your ideas! Madeline..I know what you mean about the suggestions based on trends. I try not to suggest gray walls, unless it's absolutely the best option. :) I think many of us suggest what the poster probably will "like" as opposed to something "out of the box".

kimnp31...I'm personally not a fan of accent walls in a small space. I think I'd paint all the walls one color. Is this a guest room? Do you want gender neutral or more glam/girly? I'd love to see little sparkly chandeliers hanging from the ceiling as your bedside lights.

Madeline, hope you continue to comment as all (except super rude or uncalled for) are certainly welcomed! I am fairly new to Houzz (late summer) and yes, it is fun to try and figure out who these commenters are, etc. Especially ones without a profile pic! I do believe vast majority are here to help and many, many offer very concise and constructive advice. Certainly more than I can offer. I simply like to add advice or even "my two cents" every now and then. Plus so many are zany, crazy, fun commenters! I must say, so far, it has been a very positive experience for me. I saw on another thread that your mother is in poor health, suffering from dementia, I believe. So sorry this is happening to her and you as well. Have a good rest.
kimnp31, sorry to interrupt your dilemma with my comment to Madeline. I adore your platform bed, especially that gorgeous gray!!
@ Madeline, LOL, I was not paying attention at all to the name of the poster and you're right, I thought you were her - my bad! And, Kim, sorry about that, wherever you are. I hope we didn't scare you off. It's been a very strange day here on Houzz!

To add my two cents worth to this very valid discussion of trends, it's funny - I almost pulled a pic off West Elm site of a bedding set in yellow, grey and blue lol. But, same thing, it's such a ubiquitous color combo, you almost can't avoid it. And don't forget, the sites we're shopping on aren't exactly offering that many choices. Also, I find that most people posting dilemmas here aren't able to go custom with pretty much anything, so in order to put together a "look" that includes curtains, rugs, pillows, etc., you pretty much have to use what the design dictocrats are offering up.

Sorry, Kim, for taking over like this! Maybe tomorrow we can look at your bedroom with several fresh pairs of eyes! It would be nice if there was a separate forum where people could bring up stuff like this and talk it out!

I like the bed... even with the existing bedding with shams and throws added.... I don't think the chest, it looks too industrial..find something with substance. Get some art... what kind of lighting is there ?
I went to sleep with no comments and awoke to this great dialogue. Thank you all for commenting.

I was considering the yellow and grey myself, but I too thought it may be a bit trendy. I have been looking for other color combinations.

I will eliminate the chest (It was due to be delivered in 1 week). The majority of you said it doesn't work. I was really struggling with whether this chest went with this bed.

I didn't want the room to look too traditional, but with the tufting and grey I am not sure which direction to go with the nightstands.

I like the one above but this room is too small for that one. The nightstand/chest can only be at max 32inches on either side.

@ Darzy I think I like the idea of glam girly.
I think the gender neutral could also work... I just want it to look cozy and well put together.
I agree with karemore's suggestion of wall colour and black nightstands. I could see a couple of crystal lamps on black nightstands http://houzz.com/photos/2887816
Perhaps introduce some silver in accessories.
I forgot to mention luxurious white bedding complimented by a throw and cushions in the blues, grays, black and silver.

i'm probably the only person here who liked those nightstands with that headboard.

i like the red/coral with the grey headboard.
i would add in touches of creamy white and sky blue and go romantic-coastal with seashell prints on the walls and spray painted shells around the room with a tan woven rug on the floor.

after all, those irises on the bedding are tropical flowers.
you could go colonial polynesia with the feel.
add in dark teak and lots of white, sheers on the window, pale pale color on the walls, darker brown woven rug to look like the color of a resort hardwood floor.

Kim, If you like the idea of black night stands, there are lots of options out there that would be small enough to fit your space. I love the crystal lamps, posted by cathieg - starting to build a look here, which I'm quite liking? You could go with white bedding, as was also suggested, and a killer wall color which you could pick up on through curtains and bed pillows.

Speaking of trends, found this interesting - plants and fashion. Of course, the Pantone colors will find their way from the runway to the furniture and accessory stores and nurseries quickly.

yoboseiyo, that is what makes the board interesting - ask 10 decorators, and get 10 different ideas! You bring up another interesting point, though. I don't where you are located, kimnp31, but a guest room is a logical place to incorporate some regional flair, should you like to, either through local artists, or in the decor itself.
The chest you like may easily have a counterpart in your size through another company; pale furnishings with simple lines do seem a good way to get both your glam and gender neutral needs met. Velvet panels follow that same reasoning, if applicable for you.

Love the gray bed. Hate the bedding. Paint walls as. Oft pale gray. Wallpaper a black, gray metallic. Are very big now. Place a big 36" sunburst mirror over bed in silver keep all accessories incl pillows in a silver. Macys hotel collection has a white with gray trim duvet set. Add extra bed pillows and get extra shames in solid white. Tuck in duvet. Do not have to add comforter In side. Panels on windows on ends in a woven fabric in white on a stainless rod extend pass window 6" end tables with dark gray base and white shades tall. Put a fur throw at foot in gray. Whats on floor?

I see it carpet add a fuzzy white rug next to bed. For texture. On long wall on side of bed add a dark frame or silver tall 6 ft floor mirror. Lean on wall center on wall. Nothing else in room. Unless you have room for a small chair in corner, gray and white zebra would be fun. Keep it simple. Add small mirrored trays to table tops to place drinks, etc. get it in bath dept very narrow.
Is that a bath rm. if so do it in the grays and use big fluffy white towels. Also high thread count over 800 white sheets. Big pillows.

Not sure how high ceilings are may have to 24" or smaller on sunburst. You do not want to go to ceiling. But have a 10-12" clearance.

Decoenthusiaste, Well I'm liking those colors for next year for fashion because I'm a blonde and those are my colors lol! But I hope they don't make their way to the home decor scene - they seem quite girly to me! Even erpmerald green, which is supposed to be their color for this year, is hard to decorate with. Sometimes I think they must just sit down and smoke something before deciding on the colors of the year lol!

I think pristine white would look fabulous for the bedding! Use mirrored nightstands, which will look great with the headboard.

Wow ! what great ideas .I love the inputs .I think you try to stencil your wall .You could try the whole wall or just a part of it .Do a little research on the net there are some great ideas you could choose according to your choice. Stencil DIY projects are fun and easy, and creative.

Also a Mural of trees or a New York sky line would be fun. Then use nothing over bed.

I always find it so interesting how just one item can inspire different ideas! I was thinking more of a luxurious hotel chic design using espresso to compliment the grey headboard. Wallpaper behind the bed with a light grey for the other walls. A flower print brings in a more delicate touch to the headboard. Some white textured bedding and rich espresso silk curtains. Using alot of different textures will make the space feel much more luxurious.

A dark wood night stand to keep in line with the espresso. A bone accent table would bring in an unexpected element. Two different tables make a design much more interesting. A faux fur espresso throw at the foot of the bed adds some more luxury. This lamp (for the night stand) has brown and grey reflections and ties in all the shades from the bone table.

How about a very soft pink for the wall colors? (Like the below photo). Then gray bedding with crystal glam side table lamps? I like the espresso furniture side table ideas for a rich contrast to the soft pink/gray.

Love this head board. Gray is a great bedroom color. It would be hard to mess this up! The bed is a great foundation for elegance & drama. Layers of shades of grays and taupes in all different kinds of fabric for glamorous room. Throw pillows in lots of fabrics and shades, bling. A little crystal ceiling light , bling. A faux fur throw. A soft shag. fabulous reading chair with accent table & lamp. It's a winner already!

Can anyone give me a suggestion on a color for the walls. Should it be a gray darker or lighter than the head board or should I go with the same teal as the pillows on the bed.
I think your current colour is preferable, as it shows off the other two colours, and helps the carpet to blend into the colour scheme.
If you would like to tweak this, consider centering each mirror more, between the corner and the bed, or looking for a pair that is slightly more narrow than the bedstands. This style would pick up your drapery motif, and is available in less expensive versions -[houzz=
