Hello. Thank you for your question and interest in our work. The stone used on the fireplace surface is a black slate, also sometimes called charcoal slate. There are a number of manufactures that make a similar product. We'd recommend consulting with your local tile shop for their offerings, else the internet. An important detail in our opinion is how the "sheets" of stone come together. We like the pieces to interlock, which makes the seams invisible. Some products have straight cut seems and this diminishes the natural look of the finished product. Thanks again and good luck with your project.
