Nothing too out of the ordinary like bright blues, yellows, or greens. I think a deep red like patty suggested or a dark brown.

A dark rich red ...My home ia a third the size of yours and the red door id stunning.

What color is your door now? What about just a warm wooden door. Not too dark but maybe with some iron detail or something?

This is a new construction, so there is a new door, with NO colour as of yet. It is a fiberglass door, so it can be stained or painted.

More of a burnt orange,more on the brown side. Warm and inviting.

The suggestion of red, sounds good, but would need some direction as there are hundreds of shades of red...please and thanks...

I like agarcia's suggestion of staining it a medium brown - maybe cognac? Your home's lines and finishes are very classic and elegant - I am actually having trouble picturing the door painted.

Does the front door receive sunlight during the day? A dark color in the recess could look lifeless if it doesn't get much light.

To answer Michaels K's ?? the door is a North exposure, and receives only half the exposure due to the foyer entrance....My mind is saying match it to the black garage doors, but colour would be nice.??? I just needs some direction....Thank You

Can you take another photo that is closer to the front door so that we can see the details at the door and surround. Be far enough back that you include the stone arch so that we can see some of the stone color as well. Take as high a resolution photo as your camera will allow..

hey, from the looks on the outside- the inside might need a bit of a change, traditional is out the window and so is restoration hardware. Pops of color is good with tans, so not to make your family dizzy!! I had a colorful bedspread and each jewlery box and objects around my room have tons of color..Theres got to be blending, with the same token of the same theme throughout.
I am actually thinking something different like glass cabinets, light walls, bright fun furniture pieces that stick out!

Going with glacierspeed, merlot would be nice.

And some stained glass in the side kites and transom would be icing..Merlot...dark, deep red.

I'm still with Rockin' Fine Finish - stain it in a cognac color.

I would suggest that you look at two colors. Both are paint and both are from C2.
The first is "Nightspot #C2-243" and the second is "Toadstool #C2-435". Both should be painted in a high gloss and by a professional.

Nightspot is a dark rich blue that has a warm brown undertone. Even though it is dark the color will be a beautiful complement to the stone and a sharp contrast to the frame color of the door and sidelite.

Toadstool ( I know the name is a turn-off ) is a warm moss green. It is probably an unexpected color choice, but one that I think can surprise and delight as you approach the door. It should work very nicely with the grey and taupe colors of the stone.

Both of these colors will be warm and friendly and will pass the test of time.

You should do a test panel at least as big as half the door size, MDF would have about the same texture, as a mock up to see what you think before proceeding with the final paint job.

If you want a real professional look take the door to the autobody shop to spray it in a color of your choice, jewel tones are timeless, I stand by Merlot ..done by the auto guys... !! Surprise us>>

I have a similar style of entrance to my home. I went with a wood door stained in "country brown". I think that could work for your application as well. The brown looks very earthy and rich with the grey/beige tones of the stone. If you want to see more of a colour, I also strongly agree with Nightspot, suggested by Michael Kilpatrick Design. That would look gorgeous. Best of luck!

What you really need here is a heavy, more ornate door... with full glass to follow the transom and sidelites... THAT will give you the entrance you are looking for....

Keep in thought. 3 colours max or else it looks over shot. I would put a grey door like your garage doors with 3 squared windows and add platiified screen for colors. Are your looking for a contemperary look or modren?
