Help decide paint color- Sea Haze or Puritan Gray in my dining rm

I can't make up my mind on a paint color for my d.r. and would love some help. I'm looking to have a bit of a fresher look than my existing french country. I've put fabric swatches (large pattern sample would be side panels on the one bay window), brown geometric would be full back chairs(heads of table) and neutral for side chair seats. The china cabinet will be painted a creamy beige and wainscoting dove white, so I'm thinking a darker color for the walls- currently I am considering Sea Haze (LEFT of fabrics) or Puritan Gray(Right). Which do you like best? Any thoughts?-I'm open to suggestions. Thanks!

Sea Haze. I would paint the ceiling sea haze also....will draw your eye up and take away the chopiness of the wainscotting.

I like the Sea Haze...to the left of the fabric swatches. LOVE that fabric for your window panels!!!

I would love to see a window seat in that bay!!! (You need another project now, right?) LOL

Console table is not working there.

thanks so much for the feedback. Interesting- I see more green in sea haze and blue in puritan gray, they are both kind of chameleon colors.. Sea Haze seems to be the more popular vote so far.

The console will be coming out of the bay for sure. I like the window seat idea- good place to sit and read. My dining room is used nightly as a study hall for my teenagers.

    Definitely the sea haze.

You may want to consider then, putting some hidden outlet plugs along the edge where they can plug in their laptops, etc.

This would be a good time to choose fabric for the cushion.

There is more gray in the sea haze and just so much more elegant for your dining room than Puritan Gray.

Thanks. For a more complete picture, I'm attaching a picture of the breakfront that I'm painting creamy beige and putting in the dining room (it's currently in my office). I'm planning on selling the french country china cabinet on craigslist... too matchy with the table and chairs.

I like the color to the right of the fabric, it has more blue tones. And I will tell you why, my house like your has the yellow, orangey cooled woods like your hutch for instance. The greys just do not blend well with those wood tones. The one lady that just painted her home all grey does not like it, because her oak kitchen cabinets stick out, that is all you notice. I am so tired of those wood tones my house is loaded with them. They definitely say 80's. I can,t wait to update myself.

totally agree on the wood advice. I am trying to get away from the orangey wood tones. I'm painting furniture and I'm going to stain my table a darker brown. The sea haze looks green on the walls rather than gray. I'm trying to look at it throughout the day to see the color.

It depends on how people have their monitors calibrated. I see a dead gray for Sea Haze, no green at all, no undertones, and the Puritan Gray looks like a medium gray/blue. You're the only one with the advantage of seeing the true colors.
Maybe you should paint the breakfront first, get the chairs done then pick a wall color last.

I agree with Maquire. You are the only one who can see the true colors. I would pick the room paint color last, since it is the easiest thing to pick.

Buy a piece of drywall and paint the drywall, not your wall. You can move it around the room at different times of day.

Based on the photos, the Puritan gray looks more blue...its the one to the right, right? Anyway, that is the one I like...you appear to have plenty of natural light to carry the color.

I just looked at my BM deck. sea haze is very green!!!
Pilgrim gray actually is a little green, but not as much as sea haze.

See what we mean about monitors?

If you are looking for an earthy blue=gray, you might try HC-145, van courtland blue.

With that fabric I would go darker

Thank you- I'll look at the colors mentioned. I've made such a mess of my walls I'm feeling compelled to do something soon. The furniture painting will take some time. Maybe I'll end up doing another color after everything is finished. I agree on the monitors- unless you see it with the naked eye, it's hard to see the true color. I appreciate all the feedback.

I like the one to the right. The Sea Haze is too light and not dramatic enough especially with your color choice for the hutch.

Thanks. I do want a pop of color- the rest of my downstairs has neutral beige walls (other than the powder room and office). You look into the dining room from the foyer.

I like the one on the right. The sea haze to me just looks like it's faded or you tried to play it safe. The one on the right shows a choice that's bolder and made with confidence. I echo klsbernard's comment regarding considering wood tones too. It's going to be lovely!

Puritan Gray is a much stonger color than Sea Haze but it is not actually very blue, it's very gray. I have it on some furniture in my house. I'd go for more of a blue color than Puritan Gray if your not going with Sea Haze which is a very gray/green. There are so many beautiful blues like the one commented above, Kensington Blue. Good luck!
