Hi there, I posted the Pale Oak you are considering (pic one), and it looks like a cool beige with green undertones. Nothing wrong with it exactly, but it will be quite cool in your room with the grey in the bedding. Is this how you want it to look?

I also posted Inner Balance, which also has green undertones but is warmer (pic two), and Manchester Tan, which is warmer yet and very little green. Just thought I'd show you some similars, so you can be sure this is the way you want to go.

I'm not sure what exactly is the look I'm going for-as in warm or cool. I just want it to match and feel inviting and relaxing. Ones that make more sense? I'm going to post another pic...

Here is a pic of it on my bed. Excuse the mess, I was trying to get all the colors on the blanket in the photo. There will be 2 big windows behind the bed where I will have curtains (thinking sparkly black-hence the hanging shirts) I feel like you can see the colors better in this photo. Thoughts??

Black might be a cool accent color behind the bed. If that's too dark, try a dark grey. I'm sorry I don't have an exact color name. I painted my entry stormy Monday by Ben Moore which I love, not sure it would work here though.

Just based on the bedcover I would go with the dark grey (with ivory curtains) from the sparkles for the walls. I'm of course suggesting this colour without actually seeing the room or bed. If you choose the Pale Oak then you could paint the ceiling this dark colour. This would tie in nicely with the black curtains and create a very glam and cozy bedroom.

Great ideas! Thank you!! I'm not sure my husband would go for painting the ceiling that dark...but I LOVE the idea! And I think part of our problem is the we are afraid of bold colors! Our whole house is neutral. Adding on a 3 bedroom addition and so far all the colors are gray-tan-off white. I guess we like to stay in the safe zone lol

I agree with a dark gray, at least for the accent wall where the bed will be. Maybe Chelsea Gray or Amherst gray from BM.

I think I'd like a pale color that is elegant, soothing and restful. Add soft color in pillows and accessories. Maybe silvery pale gray window drapes.
If you have the black or dark gray bed skirt and shams, I would use the same color in the drapes or a print that has your colors.

Stay118, I know you only asked about paint color BUT I got to thinking about your color phobia issue lol! So, I put together a collage showing your bedding with a different curtain from your black sparkly idea, along with some art and a bed pillow that could bring just a teensy bit of color into your room.

The curtains are grey velvet panels from Pottery Barn. I thought these could add some rich texture to your room. Black sparkly curtains might not give you the warm feeling you say you would like for this room. I used a Ben Moore paint called Strand of Pearls which looks a bit warmer than your Pale Oak choice. If you can bring together a palette of cream, grey and gold and then add in lots of texture through drapes, carpet and pillows - plus that one great piece of art - I think you might have the warm, inviting bedroom you are hoping for!

Choose one of the great grays, by Benjamin Moore. I love the bedding.

OMG stay118 you have much more going for you than you believe. So take a breath and relax. You can do this! I find it interesting you selected an attractive bedding assemble yet fear choosing a wall color! Never select a paint color without due diligence. While paint is generally the least expensive item in a renovation, paint still costs money and time. Postpone the painter or painting party until you are ready and satisfied of your choice. I always recommend starting with samples and buy inexpensive sample pots. Interestingly nine of ten times when you "intuitively" select a color it works out rather nicely! If you are adamant about getting "something" on the wall then place your primer up first. Consider taking one or two of the pillows to your local paint store and have them tint the primer the same background color as the pillow OR bedding of choice. Easy-breezy! Then you will have a little color up to start with and you can look at this color over time while you pull in ideas for final selection. And stay118 take another breath and enjoy the process! (Save your freak-out for Halloween!)


Finally stay118 I honestly have no right to select a particular color without seeing how the bedding colors compliment or contrast existing colors and finish materials. What is going on with your ceiling? How tall is it? Add in natural light, direction and the soup gets thicker. Remember color reflects from the outside in-- often changing what we see on our walls at different times of the day. Does your windows overlook a swimming pool? A golf course? A red barn? A forest? Does a particular color reflect off another house? What colors are in your artwork? Will your window coverings always be drawn shut or open? Are you contemporary, modern, traditional, rustic? All facets are important to consider when selecting paint colors!


Here is a tiny TIP that often surprises my clients: Zip open a pillow--reverse the fabric-- and study how the reverse color of the different threads work together! Often we see inspiration for our new base colors and accent colors right before our eyes! OR be daring and add a rich earth tone and be surprised! For the ceiling: count down three values from the walls so the ceiling color does not poke you in the eye (as a white can do) as you gaze upwards from bed. And don't forget the wonderful world of metallic paint for accent areas. TIP: Remember a base coat similar to the metallic needs to be selected and applied under a metallic first! (oh BTW metallic paint requires patience) ;)

Do note: The brain finds peace in colors it has previously seen (including in an interior). So don't brow beat yourself for enjoying the same neutrals yet again that you previously mentioned!

So stay118 It would be my mistake if I said select x color from x paint company without being fully present with you and your room. And whipping out color names only confuses. You need to know who you are, how you feel and what colors make up you as well as your husband? There are so many facets of existing colors already present inside and outside that need to be considered. The size of the room-the height of the ceiling, the direction of light, and what material or finish is on your flooring counts too. Be patient when selecting your colors. You know intuitively what you want and your husband most likely will offer his preferences as well, bringing you to an agreement of sorts.

For the most part I applaud LB Interiors professional comments and karemore55 certainly has unabashedly gone to great lengths to give you exciting visuals to ponder. I too affirm I have inspired! Good luck stay118 on all your future creative endeavors!

Wow, you guys are amazing! Andrew, thank you. I needed to hear that! I AM totally freaking! And karemore, I absolutely love your ideas. I really like that strand of pearl color. I have the newer B Moore palette book and it doesn't have a lot of the colors in it. Before I pick up the paint, I'm going to see if I can get some samples. Sorry for such a late response and I'm sure you've already purchased a new bedding set by now! The comforter set and pillows are from Kohls. They are the Jennifer Lopez collection.
The paint color we went with was Pale Oak by B Moore. It looks great with the set!

I would take the bed cover to the paint store and have the paint expert help you.
