Quartz is a much better material. We just ordered ours this week. Silestone is nice but not durable. You can do a comparison on the net by typing in "Compare counter top material" good luck

Hi all, quartz is a product ! It is engineered stones, composites made of two or more materials.

Caesarstone, Silestone, Cambria…are the brands.

Only Cambria is manufactured in the U S. It does make a difference in the product. You should investigate this. It may change your mind about which brand you purchase.

I would chose Cambria. It is, IMO, a safer product.

We bought our house a year ago and it has 11 year old Silestone. It has held up VERY well. We love it.

My house had a quartz countertop (Silestone) when we moved in. Very nice, but the color was horrible! I replaced it recently with granite because I love the variations in the granite, whereas quartz counters have too much uniformity.

Hi Sheri... Judy and others are correct. All quartz countertops are manufactured in the same way, with machinery made by the same machinery company. While different companies add small amounts of anti-bacterial compound, etc. - they are all essentially the same, except for appearance. I'd pick the one you like, without regard for claims from one company or the other that theirs is better.

I disagree with those who say "all" quartz is the same. Many are pretty similar but the big difference is the manufacturing system. Breton is far and away superior than any other manufacturing system. If the product is not manufactured with the Breton system, it is not a high quality quartz product.

I too am looking at Pompeii Quartz in a new color Grey Emperador. I am not finding any reviews on Pompeii. They are not mentioned in any websites that I can find. Does anyone have experience with Pompeii products?

I am also looking at Pompeii Icicle for my kitchen, any known issues?

Pompeii quartz is primarily a Southern Florida product. Heavy use in Naples etc...

We handle both Silestone and Pompeii products. Our anecdotal experience is that Pompeii is no better or worse than Silestone when it comes to durability, etc. I would recommend choosing the one you prefer.

There are multiple price points throughout the Pompeii line, as is common with most engineered stone.

After having Zodiaq and Caesarstone installed in two kitchens, we went with Pompeii. HUGE mistake. Did not want Chinese and after almost four years of problems with the Pompeii Sunny Pearl, we find it is Chinese. Our kitchen designer/installer company told us it was not Chinese! Dull, watermarks, and chips with excellent care. I would stay away from this line. Had to do a lot of research to find the truth!

Silestone and Corian come from Spain. Pompei is made in Vietnam with Breton technology.

I think Pompeii Quartz is from Italy.

Correction: Pompeii Quartz is made in Vietnam with Breton technology which is Italian. Pompeii is under the name Vicostone outside the U.S. Some of its line is sold only in Florida.

11/2020 Nancy is correct - we are in Bonita, Florida and the Pompeii Vicostone display is found often in showrooms, next to Cambria. The price point seems to be a selling point. Looking at the color "Valley Sands" to match with the Tiger wood look, tiled floors that came with our kitchen. Hard to match!

I have these same type of floors. I am in Ponte Vedra, FL. I am using Pompeii also. Hopefully, it will be good for as long as I need it to be.

I just had Pompeii pure white installed so hopefully I am all right. I am in South Florida, so I guess that’s why I came across it.

We have had it for about a year in pure white and its good so far. no stains. we did have a tiny chip but im pretty sure that was from the workers and we had it fixed.

Engineered stone is virtually all the same stuff. The brands don't matter.
