I love this kitchen! How would you describe the color of stain used here?

Can you put a hot pot directly on a dense fantasy brown marble/granite. I was told that the slab that I am considering has granite, marble, and quartzite in the stone. It looks exactly like this one. Would wine stain it?

I'm looking at this stone too. The stone people tell me that it is a harder stone than granite. Granite 6.5 on the scale and Quartzite 7.0 on the scale. Not exactly sure what that means, but any natural stone should have a couple of layers of seal on it when installed and the seal should be reapplied at least once a year. This should protect it from etching. Any stone will stain if the liquid is left on for long enough.

I would never put a screaming hot pan on a cold counter, that is just asking for trouble!

Love the look of this kitchen. Would you share backsplash info and wall paint colors?

My fantasy brown was installed yesterday, and I already have etching either from my putting tiles against the wall that fell or the installers. The stone is beautiful but I hope I have not made a big big expensive mistake. They sealed it with one coat of a sealant from home Depot. I will seal again. Anyone out there know what t do to stop the etching?

Is it etching or a scratch?
